Guest guest
Hi Angie, I really hope you get your problem with dizziness straightened out. I know how awful it can be. I have been dizzy for 5 years, ( Sounds funny , I know) but it's true. Now I think it's a result of my Thyroid being low as no other cause has been found for it. Sometimes I stagger when I walk I get so dizzy. Anyway I do understand. Take Care, Kim > And said all my lab results were normal. I asked him to send them to me and he is so I will post the results when I get them. He made an appt to go to an ENT that specializes in dizziness for September 22nd. I am also going to try to get an appt. with Dr. Bell that is an endo in a town 3 hours away for the next day. Do ENT's have any knowledge about thyroid disorders? Dr. Passer doesn't think it is my thyroid even though I have all the classic symptoms. I just feel I am wasting my time going to the ENT if he doesn't have any ideas about thyroid disorders. I have a great ENT that I went to already but this other one is supposed to know about being dizzy. I am also supposed to take the actual pictures of my MRI so the ENT can see them. Any idea why that would be? > > Angie > Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind > word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of > caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around. > --Leo Buscaglia > > >
Guest guest
Did you have to go to an ENT? I really just think mine is because I am hypo but I will wait to get my test results to find out. Guest guest
Hi Angie, Yes I went to an ENT. I had so many tests I can't even remember them all. All normal. I was severely anemic for years before my hyst. I thought that was why I was dizzy, but it didn't go away even after my blood count went up. I do believe it is my Thyroid. Good luck with your tests. The ones I had were all pretty easy. Take Care, Kim > > And said all my lab results were normal. I asked him to send them > to me and he is so I will post the results when I get them. Guest guest
I am supposed to take my MRI and MRA to the ENT when I make my appt. In my case it is so they can see my damaged sinuses. They may be checking for this with you, because if you have damaged sinuses and your ears do not drain properly, sometimes that first symptom is dizziness. However, is this lightheadedness (you are spinning) or vertigo (the room is spining)? Chances are the ENT will not know about thyroid. Just thought I would mention that if FT4 is .9, Ft3 is probably kick ass low. When mine was .98, my Ft3 was like a 2. And I felt like crap. We need to get you a new thyroid doc. what did you go to the ENT for before?? I have a great ENT that I went to already but this other one is supposed to know about being dizzy. I am also supposed to take the actual pictures of my MRI so the ENT can see them. Any idea why that would be? > > Angie

You'd think an Endocrinologist would know about thyroid disorders better than they do. And they are generally lousy. But if you have insurance, and can afford it, why not see what the ENT doc says. OR, even better, let us know what your free T3 is when it comes in. Janie

And maybe (your choice) you could delay the ENT appointment until you see what happens when you get that free T3 in the upper part of the range. Guest guest
Because I had to prove to my medical leave that it wasn't my ears. I can't say enough great things about that ENT. He was terrific. I had the MRI done to check my pituitary because I still have breastmilk and they thought maybe I had a tumor. My prolactin level is normal, though, so I don't really know what he is going to be checking. I think it is more like the room is spinning. And then I start feeling like I am going to throw up. I have all the other symptoms of hypo: hair falling out, fatigue, extremely cold, mood swings, weight gain. I just don't know why that doc can't figure that out. I am very anxious for those test results though. He didn't really want to tell me much about them, only that they were normal but they were supposed to have mailed them out today. I hope they did. Guest guest
Were they blood tests or some other kinds of tests? The only one my other ENT had me do was the dizziness tests. Guest guest
I will post all of my results and the lab ranges as soon as I get them. I am anxious to see what they are. He told me he didn't do a TSH, only the free t3 and free t4. He also said he checked a few other hormones so I am curious what those are. I do have good insurance and we also have supplemental that covers pretty much everything so I guess I might as well go. Dr. Passer (the one that wouldn't return my phone calls) wants me to go to the ENT and then go see him on the same day for some reason?? Anyone have any ideas why that would be? Maybe just to see what I found out? In that case, I could tell him I will call him....LOL Angie Re: the doctor finally called >He made an appt to go to an ENT that specializes in dizziness for >September 22nd. Guest guest
Even though they probably have the results if he has the actual films he can look at them. That way he's not relying on what someone else said. Also if you have another MRI they can compare films as well. (In fact my neurologist gave ME the MRI films to keep. He said that if their office kept them there would be a chance they would lose them.) Louise > I am also supposed to take the actual pictures of my MRI so the >ENT can see them. Guest guest
I have a problem with dizziness too. Taking Armour has helped, but I also use Emer'gen-C. Its a powder that you add to water. It is really high in Potassium and Vitamin C. It also has other vitamins in it - Bs and some Calcium too. I know if you don't get enough Potassium, you can have problems with dizziness and light headedness. Just a thought. This stuff has helped. My ND told me its good to use while you are exercising rather than drinking Gatorade. Zina > > And said all my lab results were normal. Guest guest
Hi Angie, After reading your posts, I do not have the dizziness like you've indicated. So, I doubt its low Potassium! Sorry about that. I'm always so behind on reading the postings. Zina > > > And said all my lab results were normal.
