Guest guest
I developed a pain in my right upper side, at first it was cutting and intermittent. But late this afternoon it is more steady. I know it has something to do with my liver but I have never had this kind of pain before to last this long. I went to my primary care physician this morning for a sinus infection, she has my records regarding my liver but at that time it wasn't hurting. She prescribed Amoxicillin for my sinus and I took one, about 3 hrs. later is when I developed this side pain. Has anyone every had this experience. I have been using heat on it and hopefully tomorrow it will be gone. I am trying real hard to get through Christmas without any more problems. If anyone has an answer please let me know. Guest guest
I've not experienced this after antibiotics. It could be just coincidence. All I can offer is the usual advice - fever, jaundice, chills, pale stools, dark urine? If any of these, I'd check myself in (I'm not shy about the late night ER visits anymore). My experience is that I get fever and chills long before the other symptoms. If you develop a fever, I'd go in right away. It doesn't seem to take long, at least for me. I'd also try to go through a lot of water, in case it is just a " sludge flow " . Please be careful and don't try to hold out. Take care. Guest guest
Martha, As others have said, chills, fever, nausea or spreading pain are reasons to check into ER and get treated for bacterial cholangitis. The pain may have come from from a bile duct becoming blocked. If so the blocking stone or sludge may be forced past the stricture and the pain will resolve. Or it may be a big enough stone so it won't get past without help. In which case you may need an ERCP or other intervention to relieve your pain. Unless your symptoms indicate that you should visit the ER, I would suggest you wait until morning and see how you feel. If the pain is still present get some help.
