Guest guest
Hello all, Hope the New Year is wonderful for all of you. Mr. was hospitalized for 2 weeks before Christmas with severe back pain, headache, fever....really never got to the source of infection, no rejection. Decided the prograf could cause a lot of the problems so they took him off. Took many days for it to come down before they could start the Neoral. He came home on Christmas Eve and slept for the next day or so, really not feeling much better. Got a call on Wednesday saying he needed to come in for a biopsy on Friday since his numbers had shot way up again in the 2 days. So...he's had every test known to man. Again had the backache, fever, headache. Nothing shows up for source of infection though they have treated him IV, with antiviral and antibacterial antibiotics. Did the biopsy yesterday and as of this morning, the preliminary results don't show much. They even debated as to whether too much damage had somehow occured to the new liver but that has pretty much been ruled out. Tomorrow all the docs will thoroughly look at the biopsy comparison and decide about anything new. His liver numbers have come back down fairly nicely but his bili is all time high at 16. Weird though because he didn't appear as yellow. The only thing they really see is " slugy bile " . So, he's taking more actigol and fish oil and something else to try and clean it out. They say the bili will take time to come down. Possibly, he'll get to come home again tomorrow. It's pretty sick to think that driving and parking and making my way through the hospital has become so automatic.....At least none of the awful stuff has shown up. Something to be thankful for. Hope all of you have a better year than the last have been. Ruth __________________________________________________
