Guest guest
Hey guys - need your input here... Some background: I'm 47, hypothyroid taking 4 grains of Armour a day, most likely peri-menopausal... One of my thyroid problems is my body's inability to adjust to hot or cold temperatures. I'm thinking this is being exacerbated by oncoming menopause. On Sunday, it was a glorious day on the East Coast. I was out in the sun (about 80 degrees) very low humidity (which just kills me) strolling and sitting, dressed in light colored clothes - crop pants and shirt. I was warm, but not hot. All the sudden I had had enough and we walked back to the car - about 3-4 minutes. At that point I was so hot I thought I would scream. (No one else was hot - a lot of people had slacks and long sleeved shirts on.) I've experienced this before but what was unusual is that I then felt out of sorts, like crying and cranky, upset stomach, etc. - like I was ill. This was about 3:30. Later I was hungry but didn't feel like eating. Several hours later - perhaps 7:30, the top of my head, at my skull was still warm like my core body temp was still overheated. The crakiness and feelng out of sorts was with me until bed time. I still feel " weepy " today. (My " cycle " was a week ago, so it's not PMS!) I know to avoid " hot " days and rarely stray from AC. But Sunday was so nice and I thought high 70's would work for me. I'm sure if I was relaxing on a shaded deck with a glass of iced tea, I would have been fine! Has anyone ever experienced something like this? I'm taking 400 iu of Vit E 2x a day, which someone said will help with hot flashes (power surges ;-). However, I only get overheated when it's already warm. I don't get " hot " if I'm comfortable - as being in AC or moderate temps... I'm also taking a Black Cohosh " Women's Blend " with Dong Quai, etc. I'm already convinced I'm slowly losing my mind, so don't suggest that ;-) Was this just a reaction to the temps are is something else going on? Thanks guys, in PA

Your description is definitely odd. I wouldn't be surprised if your female hormones are out of whack---have you had them tested?? Also, when I used to be on synthetic T4-only, I had bizarre reactions to the sun. My adrenals were really weird when I probably had a very low T3. So I am curious what your free's are on 4 grains of Armour. Can you post that?? And how do you feel on 4 grains usually?? Other than this bizarre reaction yesterday, do you normally feel great with a lot of energy, etc?? Janie
