Is there anyone here that uses Maca??? If so, is there any negative

side effects to it?? I just bought some and am hoping this will help

with all it's claims!!! I have also started that AWESLIM, will let

you know if it helps but will take a few months. Plus I bought some

whey protein from NOW that contains every amino acid ( 19 of them!!)

that you need in it so hoping that will help with the low carbing

also. Trying to work on just lowering the carbs and cutting out the

caffeine completely. Got myself some detox tea!!! Also I had my

annual exam yesterday, she took me off the vitex, thinking it may be

upping my pregesterone too much at the wrong time as I get very

edgey after my period up until ovulation time plus my pms. She also

tested my thyroid for me including my ferritin levels!!! So now I

don't have to wait until the end of the month when I see my endo

again and the tests will already be done. Planning on upping to 2

grains as I am slipping back into more hypo symptoms again.

Wondering if the magnesium and GTF is interefering and am changing

my times of taking it. My Gyn, also gave me 2 saliva thyroid tests,

one for me and one for my son!!! No cost!!! It tests the free's ,

tsh and TPO. This doc is awesome, also tests the Free'S!!! AND SHE

LISTENS!!!! She should be a top doc but she is a gyn and homeopathic

too!!!!

Hi ! Wow, you are filled with great news this morning!! Yes, I

have started using Maca. Just started a week ago.

For those uninformed about it, Maca is a root vegetable plant which

grows in the high plateaus of Peru. It contains substantial amounts

of minerals such as calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, iron, zinc,

vitamin B1, B2, B12, C, E, riboflavin, thiamin and ascorbic acid,

plus other good nutrients.

Maca has reputed positive effect on hormonal balancing issues such

as hot flashes, memory problems, fatigue, mood swings and male

impotence---they call it a substitute for Viagra, too (for any men

who are reading this!)

For young women, it's had studies documenting it's effectiveness for

increased fertility!

But for those with hypo issues, as well as adrenal, it appears to

enhance what the adrenals need to do!!

Side effects are apparently few, if any. (One person on the net

stated they have taken 10 a day with no side effects, just increased

energy.) It's been around for a long, long time, and the peruvians

who use it daily are quite strong folks.

Janie

p.s. The main interferer's with your Armour are iron, calcium, and

estrogen. But this problem may be lessened if you do the Armour

sublingually. But not totally. All you have to do is watch your

levels, and increase if necessary to compensate.

I read up on Maca and have thought about taking it. I take so many

supplements as it is, though. I really feel tied to this supplement

schedule. It drives me bonkers. If I forget to take my vitamin at a

certain time, then it screws up the time that I take my Armour, etc.

It really puts a " crimp " in my lifestyle. Grrr. I'm grumpy today,

can you tell?!!! LOL Janie, once you've been on the Maca for a

while, let me know if you see some big improvements. I'm curious.

Thanks!
