I don't believe that there is any significant health risk in using an

electric heating pad. The studies done on electric blankets have not shown

any statistically significant effects. Burns (whether hot water bottle or

heating pad) are a MUCH greater concern, especially in older patients.

The do use similar heating blankets for premature babies. There are many

people who use electromagnetics for pain and healing.

It's just like anything else - don't use it all the time.

Martha....

folks may find this silly or off the wall, but when Mike saw that pharmacist

he said NEVER put a heating pad on your liver...use a hot water

bottle...apparantly, just like electrical appliances etc. a heating pad will

give off some sort of magnetic rays or something...(probably have the type

of stuff it gives off wrong), but you get the idea...

actually the surgeon here is very much into magnets, but I think I'm getting

the idea wrong when I try to put it across....we get harmful stuff from

tv's, microwaves etc...it was along those ideas but I don't remember exactly

what he said...I just remember him being emphatic about NOT using them on

your liver....

of course that is just his opinion and whatever makes you feel better is the

way you should go.
