Guest guest
Today it is officially three months post transplant for me and I have to say everything has continued to progress in a textbook fashion. I am feeling extremely well. My meds have been continually reduced so that all I'm on now is prednisone (10 mg), prograf (4 mg), losec, and urso (1500 mg). I hope to be completely off the prednisone by the New Year. I have bloodwork done weekly still but beginning next week they are dropping back to twice a month. I only have clinic visits monthly rather than weekly. Jim is finally in the clear with his health. His drainage tube is now dry and his liver has healed over finally. He goes to Toronto on Tuesday to have the tube removed and he can't wait. We are going out to dinner on Saturday night and are both looking forward to a glass of wine!! On a bad note, Jim was fired this morning. I mentioned earlier that his employers had cut off his benefits and were giving him a hard time about returning to work even though he had letters from the surgeons etc. They told him they thought he was "milking" the benefits and that he talked too much!!! He has already filed a wrongful dismissal suit. He said he wasn't surprized this was coming but what a nice Christmas present I'm hoping when all the dust settles this will be for the best. Guest guest
Debbie, I am so glad you and Jim are feeling better and doing well. I love to her good news. It is really inspiring to those of us who haven't crossed that path yet. It give us hope. Sorry to hear Jim lost his job. WEll you know what they say one door closes another ones opens. Hopefully he will find another job. I think that is awful he was under a Dr's care and they did that to him. I hope he wins and shows them they can't do that again. in CT wife of Tony(psc & crohns) mother of
Guest guest
Debbie, I am so happy to hear that you -AND- your brother, donor, are doing well, BUT I cannot believe his employer has given him such a bad time AND has fired him !!! You are right ..... it must be for the best .... NO decent employer would fire their employee for doing what he did for you !! I am really sorry he has to go through the legal garbage for something he did that was decent, loving, and a lot more than most people would do. There will be some good that comes out of this. Please tell Jim that and I are " truly " behind him all the way .... Blood is much thicker than _ _ _ _ . I apologize for being so upset, but this takes the cake and I need to release this -or- I know I will brew about this all night and all day tomorrow and the next day. Bless you and your brother, Irene (wife of , Status 3 at UCLA)
Guest guest
Debbie, I'm glad to hear that things healthwise are going good for both you and your brother. I'll send positive thoughts for that continued good health. Sorry to hear of your brother's firing. Doesn't sound like a bunch of compassionate folks. Sounds like an unlawful termination to me. I hope your brother doesn't let them get away with this. Maybe he might want to get a little media intervention in there if he can do so without jeopardizing his case. Just my two cents. Good luck to you and your brother Eileen s UC - 1978, PSC 1996
Guest guest
Debbie, Give Jim an extra big hug from us. I have been through similar situations as far as jobs and terrible bosses and firings etc. Believe me it is for the best. I've never been able to bring myself to quit a job where I worked for bosses that were simply evil. This maybe Jim's opportunity to find employment with caring people. Lawsuits are very stressful and it seems that nobody wins but the lawyers but in this case I can't imagine the employer winning this one. Talking too much is simply not grounds for firing. We'll say some extra prayers for him that he finds a much better place to work.
