Hi AislingThat sounds fantastic I think it sounds like a great plan to get more publicity perhaps and also make it easier to learn and allow more accessibility. I am Definitley a supporter of that. I await eagerly for more news. All the best. NeilSent from my iPhone

Hi everyone,

I'm really happy to let you know about a new Special Interest Group within the ACBS community that specifically focuses on how to get ACT out to the Public.

I am the President of the first committee. Rob Brockman from Australia, Bill Cameron, Darrell King and Polk, all based in the US are also on the committe.

Together, in conjunction with other members of the SIG and the public, we hope to develop and expand a number of ACT resources for the Public to make ACT more accessible to everyone who is interested. Some of the ideas we have came up with are:

Free resources

Free MP3 exercises

Access to a monthly/quarterly newsletter on ACT for the public

Access to measures to check ongoing progress with regard to psychological flexibility

Access to research that shows the efficacy of ACT in the public arena

Access to articles on ACT in public media

Links to facebook for Getting ACT out to the Public

Links to twitter for Getting ACT out to the Public

Links to Getting ACT out to the Public Youtube

Links to relevant blogs

List of ACT Practitioners that provide workshops and groups for the Public

Calendar with upcoming events for ACT for the Public around the world

Provide a Public-friendly overview on the research supporting ACT, RFT & CBS.

An online radio show on ACT for the Public where various ACT practitioners who do his work could take a 1-2 hour slot every once in a while to talk to members of the public about ACT.

Opportunities for ACT Practitioners to pool together to write articles of a public interest to be submitted to multiple publications around the world

As you can see, we like to start small! (",)

Obviously, all of these initiatives will take a while. However, I am really enthusiastic to be embarking on this project. I see that there are similar projects going on at the moment. So if there are any members of the Public who are embarking on exciting ways to make ACT more accessible for all, please let us know if we can help in any way. Also, if anyone has any suggestions or would like to be involved or help in any way, please let Bill Cameron (wcamero@...) or me know.

I'll check in with the listserv pretty regularly with updates on where we are going and any links that we think might beneficial to you all.

All the best from Dublin, Ireland.

Take care,

Aisling

I think this would be very MEANINGFUL! We're in this forum not only to seek and share each other's opinion based on ou own experiences and guidance/advice from Steve and partners...but with this additional information or structure to access to them, then this forum could really have a big leap forward...being fully inter-active and cross-referencing! Couldn't wait for it to be fully "operastional"!
