Guest guest
My youngest Daughter had years of trying to heal acne. Tried everything...Natural first, then a Dermatologist, Retin-A, strong prescriptions, etc. Nothing worked...I finally told the medical doctor to test her hormones...well she had sky high testosterone & DHEA...the ____ doctor wanted to put her on the pill! I said no way! Years later she went to another doctor & finally got referred to an Endocrinologist. She under went tons of testing & we finally found out <years after we started> that she has Late onset congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia...she's been on medicine for a year or so & her skin is finally cleared up & she feels so much better...she had a lot of other symptoms as well and they are all better. Her Dad & I are carriers but do not have it ourselves...*weird...I'm really starting to wonder...her Dad had the needle biopsies on his Thyroid gland years ago...looks like we all have weak glands.. The one thing that I've learned is never give up search until you find a good doctor....she suffered for years with symptoms before someone made the proper DX Re: Testosterone sorry, I know nothing about that. My DR told me yesterday, that I am producing so much testosterone to compensate for low estradiol.
Guest guest
LOCAH is one of the issues they are looking at with me, but I have so much wrong, I guess we have to treat a little at a time. My aldosterone deficiency being so severe is one thing that has everyone finally listening, as well as my blood pressure is 110/75 and I am fat. I also have hypo gylcemia. Guest guest
Bless your heart! I guess getting a really good endo would help a lot...I thought that my daughter may have PCOS...but didn't...I'd never heard of LOCAH until she was DX'd. My daughter didn't have blood sugar problems or weight issues...mostly dark body hair, acne, oily skin, round/moon face, insomnia...but she always had great energy and worked out... I hope that you get a good doctor & get well soon... Re: Testosterone LOCAH is one of the issues they are looking at with me, but I have so much wrong, I guess we have to treat a little at a time. Guest guest
That's my problem, high cortisol 3/4 of the time but brown pigmentation on the genitalia and gums, buffalo hump, but able to be suppressed with Dexamethasone, Hashimots, hypo thyroid yet med sensitive, moon face no body hair, gray hair in places where most people don't get this gray, low blood pressure , etc. As you can see, my symptoms point to both Cushings, , Hashi, but really fit none completely. That is why all the DR's I went to just disregarded stuff. I also have no energy. Guest guest
the body will substitute sex hormones for stress hormones if it has to, and then everything adrenal eventually burns out. Acne is a thyroid symptom, but actually I had acne as a teenager which must have beeen adrenal, because I think low adrenals caused thyroid problem. Guest guest
I never had acne as a teenager but have had it since my thyroid problem was diagnosed. It's not real bad but bad enough!! ~Leah Re: Testosterone > > > > sorry, I know nothing about that. Guest guest
Low adrenals make you break out with acne? I didn't know that. Is it a blood test for adrenals or only a saliva test? Guest guest
How was your daughter's LOCAH diagnosed? What other hormones were off? How was her estradiol? So many questions, so little knowledge. My 22 yo DD just had an ovarian ultrasound - PCOS. Val in Boulder, CO My youngest Daughter had years of trying to heal acne.
