Feel lost sometimes. I do not have a high bilirubin Total or the other. But the itching is still horrible. My last doctor wouldn't acknowledge it, drove me crazy. My current doctor has tried everything, including some of the lesser talked about treatments--nothing works. I also have bad reactions to all the UC medications. I have developed fybromyalgia and arthritis now--very painful. The last month of school (teaching) has been a painful haze--since I've been on Vicadon to even survive everyday movements. My doctor said it was OK just not to have more than two to three pills a day. But even that was too much. On Dec. 23, I woke up unable to move without intense pain. I felt like I had needles under my skin. I feel like it was a combination of two things: toxin build up from the Vicadon and more prednisone withdrawal. I'd been off pred for about 4 weeks. I couldn't get a hold of my doctor and I didn't want to try to explain things to an emergency room doctor. I started back up on the pred at 30 mg (that's where they started me last time I was taken off too quickly. I've been a little better each day. The prickling pain is pretty much gone, but he itching is still horrific.I have the sores to attest to it. I had a bad run-in with my dr's nurse over the phone a few weeks back, so I haven't called him. What is he going to do now? I'll tell him at my next appointment January 20 something. My labs came back with my PT down in the normal range again (it was elevated last month). But my ALT, AST, GGT, and Amino Phosphtase quite a bit up from last month--some 3Xs higher. They have found a hiatal hernia when they did the ERCP, which has been causing me a fair amount of pain as well. My Colonoscopy was clean, but I woke up during it--ouch! I also had some nasty reaction to something and threw up violently for the rest of the day--of course, it didn't start until I left the hospital. I puked until I went to bed.Glad those are over for a while. I have decided I must apply for disability. I've been assigned a student teacher for second semester. He will teach every other day. We have an A-day, B-day schedule four 90 min. periods a day. He will teach my regular senior English classes. I will retain my Advanced Placement, one English 12 and my Academic Decathlon team. I am very sad about quitting, but I am not able to keep this up. I will finish out the year though with the help of the S.T. My daughter had a little boy last night: 6lbs. 4oz, 18 inches long. They named him Rylan. Alls well with her, but she relies heavily on me. Her daughter Jasie still stays with us most of the time. Her marriage isn't going well--but she is doing so much better herself. My son who is a senior is being recruited to play basketball for the Merchant Marine Academy at Kingspoint. That is in Rhode Island. I had never heard of it before, but he really wants to do it. He's had a very successful season so far. This is a division III school, but the educational and professional opportunities are outstanding. I've chatted long enough. Irene, I hope 's itching can respond to something--it is too miserable.
