Guest guest
Hi and welcome to the list. I sure agree with lc for appetite control - it really makes a difference with my cravings, as a compulsive overeater. Guest guest
Hi, Ressy, want to thank you for that pureed broccoli-with-garlic-and-parmesan-cheese thing. I tried it tonight and it's a pretty easy way to eat broccoli (which I don't particularly like). Sure is a pretty green color when it's pureed like that! :-) Thanks, again, Vicki
Guest guest
Let's not get this going again.. promise that there will be *no* backin' down. This is not a low carb list! We can pander our own ways, and what works for us, but IIRC the moderator made it quite clear that YMMV, and not to criticize anothers methods. " Susie M. We're letting the whole list know that it is possible to eat a BALANCED DIET, take the prescribed drugs, and have a good A1C. Still, I would like to see the " research " the ADA has done that says low carb is bad. And to be of ANY value, the research can not be done by or funded by any company with ties to any drug manufactures . Low Carbing might work for some, but some what to eat " normal " food. The secret is in moderation. I did not eat 2 or more baked potatoes and also did not have any bread or pasta. Exactly! > > There are low carb list, and the constant low carbing is why I did unsubscribe from the list for a while. There are other options I can do besides unsubscribing, such as blocking email from the low carb preachers. Stick around Bill. The moderator made it quite clear what was allowed and what wasn't./ > > Re: [low carb diet] > > Bill Eastman yelled: > > << I do NOT low carb >> > > And Dave O. cheered: > > << Way to go Bill! Guest guest
I don't plan to unsubscribe. For those in the US: IF people currently taking Glucophage want to switch to Glucophage XR, all they have to do is see their doctor. Through 4-15-01 , you can get Glucophage XR for FREE. http://www.glucophagexr.com/march_free.html Re: [low carb diet] > > Bill Eastman yelled: > > << I do NOT low carb >> > > And Dave O. cheered: > > << Way to go Bill! Guest guest
I talked to the BMS drug rep at the TCOYD conference. She claims they tried to make 1000 mg pills, but they ended up being to big with the extended release. You take all 2000 mg with dinner and it works! This morning my BG was 106, but that was because I went to a meeting last night and had two slices of pizza. Guest guest
Some of you have expressed concern over the lipid (cholesterol) effects of the fat/protein levels of low carb diets. Our bodies do differ, but many of us have found significant improvement from this way of eating. When I was first diagnosed as type 2, over 2 1/2 years ago, my total cholesterol was 235 (somewhat higher than recommended). I started low carbing right away and have stayed under 30 g/day, as recommended by Dr. Bernstein, for about two years (except for 40-50 g once or twice a year). Within six months the reading was well under 200 and has stayed there, without any specific effort to reduce dietary fats. In fact, there is evidence that our bodies convert sugars and starches to cholesterol as readily as fats. My last test results (beginning of this month) were as follows: HbAic...........5.1 Tot Chol........163 Triglycerides....43 HDL..............52 LDL.............102 As a result, I am not afraid of fats. It makes sense to not overeat and gain weight, but, for me and many others of us, it is the carbs, not the fats, that mess up both our BG's and our lipids. Tom the Actuary, diet & exercise, no meds. Another example of YMMV... Vicki Vicki, I can eat pizza too but only 1 medium sized slice or 2 small ones. large one would do me in. Still the last time I had any pizza at all was over a month ago at my son's b-day party. But I also had a couple of chicken wings and 3 potatoe chips. Otherwise I nibbled on the veggie tray. My bg's managed to stay in the acceptable range (but on the high side of that range). So, that was a rare treat.
