Guest guest
My son, who is 5 & half months is going this Friday to be fitted for his helmet (NOPCO Starband) at Childrens Hospital. He is considered a mild case but we still went ahead and chose to go with the helmet. Can anyone tell me what I should be looking for to make sure his helmet is fitted properly? What questions should I ask the person fitting him to know if they are really qualified. I have heard some people speak of real bad experiences with the NOPCO Bands but the specialist we met with at the brace shop seemed awesome... better than the Dr. we met with. Has anyone had a good experience with the NOPCO Starband helmet and had it done through Children's Hospital in Boston MA? Lucia
Guest guest
Hi Lucia & welcome to our group:I can't offer personal advice here, but I think Nopco handling the STARband is relatively new. I think they made their own helmets for a while, but are now dealing w/the STARband. There's a list of "questions for the dr" (orthotist too) at www.plagiocehaly.org/support Check out our "photos" section for lots of banded babies pictures. You can see from that area what bands are supposed to look like...There are many STARbanded babies in there. Good luck w/the casting!Debbie Abby's mom DOCGrad MIlcipriani2002 <lcipriani2002@...> wrote: My son, who is 5 & half months is going this Friday to be fitted for his helmet (NOPCO Starband) at Childrens Hospital.
