Hi Jamy,

I've read about goitenous foods, but they never tell you how you feel

when you eat them! Thanks. I used to eat a lot of steamed broccoli

and cauliflower, but its never made me feel bad. Now when I eat

sugar I feel bad. Sugar makes my body hurt. So, even though I love

sweet stuff, I stay away from it. I eat organically now.

Zina

<<<Some feel like poison. Soy and raw broccoli do that to me. I have

learned to eat cauliflower, steamed well. It used to be I could never

eat it cooked. Take one food on the list, cook it well, and eat it

for two days in a row. Than log how you feel for the next week. Don't

eat any others on the list while you try this. You will see if you

have a problem with them cooked. Never eat them raw, though some do

and they seem to have more aches and pains. I have enough of those so

I won't risk it again.>>>>

Hi Jamy,

Well, your Free T3 is way too low. You need to increase your dose of

Armour. How much are taking? Sorry I don't remember! You want your

Free T3 in the upper part of its range (some people feel even better

above that range). No wonder you are feeling achy and hypo.

Zina

> OK, here are my new test results on the Armour. I actually started

taking it on the 15th. This is my result after 3 weeks. Now I feel

achy like I am hypo and have for a little over a week. Comments???

Jamy.... Sometimes you can get to aching because you are doing more

physical things that you did before.... any chance that this might be

what is happening?

Just throwing out possibilities while to track this down...

Yes, but achiness from doing more physical things is not normal, and

her labs point to a low free T3. So there seems to be evidence that

her low free T3 is the problem.

Well... yes it is.. if your body is not used to a lot of physical

activity and then you suddenly start doing a lot more you get a lot of

aches and pains.... I base that on my experiences lifting weights before

I became hyper, had RAI and became hypo...

If I have good days now, and over do it, by doing more than I'm used to,

I get achy....

No. I am actually doing less because I am more stiff and feel more hypo, but the

tests aren't any worse, so the only other thing could be antibodies. This is how

I felt before I even started any thyroid meds a year. I am not as tired as I was

before I started any meds, but before I was dxed with Hashi I thought I had

sever Arthritis which a lot went away when I started taking meds.

The t3 level is the same as it was when I was on synthroid 3 weeks ago.

more suggestions..... To cover all possibilities... although your

thought, Jamy, just may be it....

I know that on the synthroid, they suppress the thyroid so it doesn't cause my

body to attack it. I think my body is attacking!!

But where is your free T3?? You may also have a lower than optimal

free T3.....

hypo,

Hmmm. You could be underdosing yourself, causing hypo symptoms to

return with a vengeance. That happened to me!! Underdosing, and

staying on that underdose too long, made all sorts of " ills "

reappear, or get worse.

As you increase your Armour, you'll figure things out more. If, upon

increasing, you still have that low Free T3, the next step is to add

Cytomel to the Armour.

And the above need makes me wonder---are those that have to add

Cytomel also being treated adequately for adrenals, and have they

maximized their iron levels???

Perhaps 3 weeks is simply not enough time. Talk to your doc about

increasing, and soon. (And be sure and get your Ferritin tested.)

And do labs at the most 5 weeks later, not three.

Yes, my t3 is low, but the point is hat it is exactly where it was on Synthroid

and I didn't ache then. Current on Armour after 3.3 weeks

TSH 2.795 range 0.35 to 5.5

Free t4 1.02 range 0.61-1.76

Free t3 2.6 range 2.3-4.2

On Synthyroid

TSH 2.833 range same as above

free t4 1.05 same as above

free t3 2.4 same as above

I still think, Jamy, that you are underdosed, and that is part of

the problem. When I was underdosed on Armour, it caused symptoms

that I didn't have while on Levoxyl, especially with my periods! I

also experienced achiness. I HATE achiness!! I sympathize!!

My appt to go back in for hormones is today, so even though I started the meds

on the 15th which puts me at 3 1/2 weeks, we needed to have a figure so we knew

where we were. What I can't figure is why I have started aching. Also, my

ferritan and iron levels are good. I had a folic acid and b12 deficiency and

those were corrected which brought up my levels and made all the liquid iron to

stay in my body where it wasn't before.

I am going to tell him I need an increase. I feel lousy, but I am told it is

best to have a switch to Armour slowly like he did, a low dose.

Yup 250 a day and it still doesn't work, but it raised my temperature some. He

just added 15 mg a day of Armour and bi-est hormones. I take a ton of

supplements

You are right. It is prudent, when switching, to start on a lower

dose than possibly needed, in order to see how you will react to the

T3. But it is also prudent NOT to stay on the low dose too long. Your

hypo symptoms return with a vengeance!!

Keep us informed how you are doing. We look forward to when you can

say " I FEEL GREAT!! "

You have SUCH a conservative doc. 15 mg. is nothing with someone who

has such a low T3!! Alas. But eventually, you will get somewhere.

Just make take you a lot longer.
