No. We are told how many people or our TO (total operators) is to be by

someone that is not now doing this job, never has done it, nor has much

firsthand knowledge of the job or requirements.

> Have you been able to do anything about it?

Sadly, no. A recent commission in the state of Iowa ranked our job at #3 on

a 1 to 10 scale of 1 being no effect at all on other people in our out of

our job or 10 immanent death, destruction of private property etc. A 3?

What's worse, our top managers didn't protest too much about our ranking.

Several operators tried to make some noise about it but were summarily

dismissed.

I've always thought that this is THE problem with ANY civilian operated

dispatch agency. Someone not connected makes the staffing choices. No matter

the facts, stats, etc nothing will change their minds .
