Guest guest
, That's frightening that YOU had to insist on the formula!!! The nurses absolutely INSISTED that get fluids in her one way or another and to use the formula as a supplement to make sure got completely filled up. The after effects of jaundice were just way too serious for us to count on to get the fluids from nursing. When we brought home from the hospital the first time we were told to put her in direct sunlight throughout the day. From day ONE breastfeeding was a disaster, by the 3rd day I was up all night with screaming her head off, even after nursing for 2 hours straight (no exaggeration). By then my husband and I were very scared. The next morning was VERY lethargic and th whites of her eyes were very yellow. The doctor called with the latest bilirubin level and told us to get the the hospital ASAP. What kills me is that I was at home unsuccessfully nursing surrounded by bottles and bottles of formula samples that were sent home with me. Isn't that sad???? Oh well, live and learn. & (17 months, STARband Grad) > > " She did have problems nursing - I wonder if the tort played a > > role. I always thought it was the jaundice and early bottle.
