Guest guest
hi June, everyone, it really needs that breakthrough of dealing with a core problem, knowing what it is then everything follows. I do hope you can find some help with the NTB disease, and what is best to treat it with. Having felt like an invalid a short while, I can really feel for you, it is so disheartening. I wish I had some answers for you but is something outside my experience! I'd like to ask questions using any 'vest' (any kind) - what settings etc?? (apparently there was a CF conference here (Oz) and a Vest was on display for people to try, but settings were set highest; people didn't like it, was too rough. Result: using one is no good, may be harmful). Curious why settings so vigorous, especially for people to whom it's a new concept. What settings do people use: speed, pressure, how vigorous, length of time etc? Do you use with nebs? (does improve benefit for me.) What or who gave you advice on these? I'm still improving, though not so dramatically - as would be expected. I don't bring up as much, but every so often I bring up darkish green, tho not as infected as used to be, for me even a small amt means it's not inside brewing infx. Having less constant infx means more energy.... Now I don't have to force-cough to clear gunk my spine is healing and therefore pain is lessening... can exercise, do light housework again, no more violent coughing fits. ( I've been ish dancing (reels, jigs - 10 people dancing figure 8s all at same time is a brain-teaser and a lung and legs work-out believe me!) which I never knew was so complex! I'm progressing well with Tai Chi, now almost able to do a mid-level kick with L leg, the one I could barely move it was so painful. ) cheers, joy
Guest guest
My doctor prescribed the strength etc when he prescribed the Vest - Hill Rom knew all this when they came out to set it up for me. The settings prescribed were a range - tightness between 4-6, vibration strength, between 10-14. They started me at 5/12 - I've sense moved up to 6/14. I see the doctor in St Louis on Wed - will ask him about strength/pressure again. There is no question that 14 is pretty vigorous. It's not " painfull " - more like the annoyance of a jackhammer outside ones window - one is SO glad when it stops!! Suzanne
Guest guest
Hi Suzanne, I was prescribed pressure at 4 and oscillation from 10 to 12. Someone at Hill-Rom told me that bronch patients should never set pressure higher than 4. I don’t know if that’s truly accurate or not, but it might be something to ask the doctor. I personally can’t set the pressure higher than 4—it’s too uncomfortable. My doctor told me, though, that I could try out different settings if I wanted to.
