He is always on the go and hard to calm down. We have tried several supplements aimed at calming the adrenals with no noticeable effect. I understand that this can be caused by viruses, metals etc. and we are trying to address this but how can we support the adrenals in the meantime? What are others doing to help this issue? Thanks. Guest guest
Is this product for all the time or only when you're trying to get your child to sleep? Strangely, my son sleeps straight through the night, about 10 hours straight and still needs an hour long nap too. It's when he's awake that there's a problem. I think maybe he sleeps so much because he's so sick? If I had so many infections I'd be tired too. But I don't know how he can be so sick and be so high energy all of the time... > > > product called sleep now herbal i am takig it seeing nice results..thinking of givig to my wound up son... > > > > > To: BorreliaMultipleInfectionsAndAutism > From: georgiasand32@... > Date: Sun, 13 Nov 2011 05:14:33 +0000 > Subject: Adrenal Support for Fight-or-Flight > > > > > > > My son has been on over drive, fight-or-flight for about five years now and his adrenals are burnt out. Guest guest
I think this is one of the more difficult symptoms to rid. I know that Bartonella contributes to this as well as lacking in healthy microflora, which for us MindLynx helped a lot. Homeopathy might be a good try for this as well, since I think this area of the body needs rebalancing and is difficult to heal. Since Strep is associated with anxiety, I would also look into this. We have taken adrenal support nutrients, but they never seemed to work but for a month. I am not sure why except that maybe the body needs to completely heal to rid this symptom. Guest guest
It definitely sounds as if he has very overactive adrenal glands. I have the opposite and I have been using nutrients to get them going. The following adaptogenic herbs are recommended as being great for rebalancing the adrenals, in other words, making them work at the right rate but not suppressing them so that they cannot ramp up when you do need an adrenaline rush. Liquorice root Ashwaganda root and leaf Ginger root Ginko leaf Adults can slso take ginseng (men) and Siberian ginseng (women) but I am not sure if these are OK for children. The way to take these is start with a very low dose and build up slowly. You should choose one, not several at once. Any herbs which contain sedatives must be avoided at all costs. > > I think this is one of the more difficult symptoms to rid. Guest guest
i use a herbal blend similar to what veronica listed with good results for my son with his hyperadrenals...i also started valerian, which also calms him...i am not aware of bad side affects only that it has been used for centurys for people with post traumatic stress..kids who have been in pain for so long can cause this.. channa > > > > I think this is one of the more difficult symptoms to rid. Guest guest
Hiya Just read your post about "Any herbs which contain sedatives must be avoided at all costs" I wonder if you let me know which things you are referring too? Thanks Alison
Guest guest
Hi Alison, Well, the main one I had in mind was actually Valerian! It gives me instant tachycardia, like the world's worst panic attack. Though clearly it doesn't do this to everyone, as Channa has been getting good results with it. My doc recommended a syrup of six different supposedly relaxing herbs for my son, which made him very agitated. I've read that many types of " relaxing " herbs and prescription sedatives do this to autistic people, and people with Lyme disease. Other baddies are St 's Wort, catnip, lemon balm, california poppy, passionflower, red clover, motherwort, skullcap. There work variously by suppressing thyroid, adrenal function, respiratoy organs or the heart, or other body systems that I believe should be left alone. That's not a full list of herbs, but just be wary of anything touted as " relaxing " ! > > Hiya > Just read your post about > > " Any herbs which contain sedatives must be avoided at all costs " > > I wonder if you let me know which things you are referring too? > Thanks > Alison >
