Oh Salli my heart is bleeding for you! I can only BEGIN to imagine how you

felt! I think you're a great mom.

When everyone was talking about meeting Putter I wanted to say that I'd like

to meet you! I hope that I can handle everything that comes my way with a

tap of humor, an education and alot of determination. I'm already learning

alot from this list.

With the best of intentions generally speaking, I have done the same thing.

I'm forgetful and too busy.

Yes, Fr. Bob is definitely on my Good Guy list.

Poor Enrique. I'm glad the priest helped you out there. Kathy and I were

discussing your godparent issue this morning. She's upset because it is

time to baptize Jake, and she wants Cam and I as godparents, but of course

we are not Catholic!

Amy--who almost said something else, but really, as temporary moderator it

would look bad if I started in argument, right?

I am escaping the whole Lenten fasting for the most part and have to

give in once in a while for the meat because of being pregnant and my

horrible pregnancy. I am glad your priest was helpful with Enrique in

letting him know there are exceptions! :)

Poor Enrique! Poor You!

Wednesday, was as you know, Ash Wednesday. But, we did not go to

services, not any of us. Wednesday night as we were sitting in the

living room, and I each holding a feverish child and listening

to Gail wheeze and cough, I said to him, " You know it is Ash

Wednesday today " .

" No! Not already. It couldn't be! "

" Yes, it is. "

was aghast. It was Ash Wednesday and none of us had ashes on

our forehead. Ah well. So it goes.

Well, Wednesday was Putter's birthday and we didn't go to any services

either. But we do a candle service throughout Lent so we didn't feel too

bad.

Putter has a line to say and he is saying it and he is lighting his candle

(all of us light candles)

Robbie is the one who refuses to say his line. He just shouts " NO! "

We do not do candles anymore. Any candles. I have one box of

matches I keep well hidden. We do not have candles or lighters in

the house since Gail had problems with playing with fire and burning

stuff. has had problems with agression and violence in the

last year so we did not think it was good for him either to have

those available, so the only candles we have had for over a year are

candles on a birthday cake that get disposed of and my one well

hidden pack of matches. We do have lots of smoke detectors though.

who supposed we could read a verse or two though. That is a

good plan.

I grew up this way. Fish cakes every Friday. Yuck.

Now we just eat vegetarian on non-meat days. Good

thing you had and Fr. Bob to help you out with

this. Wow. It's always something, isn't it?

Since we don't do it any more except during Lent, I

find it really hard to remember not to eat meat, but I

managed to remember on Ash Wednesday and today.

Did you ask Fr. Bob if Enrique can be excused from

fasting..it doesn't seem right that he should have to

be so upset that he does make himself sick...it

specifically says *healthy Catholics over the age of

fourteen*..since Fr. Bob is aware of Enrique's

situtation..maybe he can excuse him.

Oh, and you are anything but a bad mama, Salli!

Silly Sara! If he took the bacon off then it wouldn't be a bacon, egg and

cheese bagel! It would just be an egg and cheese bagel and Enrique does not

eat such things.

What a delightful (if frustrating) story!

BTW, what IS the deal with fish? Why is it ok, anyway? I used to LOVE going to

my best friend's house on Friday's -- they always ordered fish and chips from

I forget the exact wording of the verse <gasp! me??> but it's something

about if it crawls on the land or flies in the air, it's meat. But not if

it swims in the water. So fish are OK. I have heard that some people eat

aquatic mammals like beaver too & the Church has okayed this.
