I agree. We, fortunately, do not do records keeping

for the PD, but we do answer a lot of lines we

shouldn't. We service 4 agencies--two small towns,

the county and Tulsa. For non-emergency, ALL of these

have the same number in the phone book. Nevertheless,

after 5, on weekends and on holidays, their

administrative lines roll over to us. PLUS we answer

for the animal shelter ALL THE TIME. Yes, even when

someone is working at the animal shelter. This really

ticks me off. Now, granted, our system prioritizes

calls, but we answer for so many non-emergency lines

now that it is feasible to have all call takers on a

non-emergency line when a 911 call comes in. It is

ridiculous. I say, if we are going to do this, add a

person or two who answer only non-emergency lines and

let everyone else take the 911 calls.
