None of this surprises me, Amy. I like Putter conferences too and I like

the school and they know what is up with our kids.

Kep is doing great and it is a great environment for him.

He's a little sharpie!

Glad things are going so well with Kep! That is

really promising that they feel he will do fine in

kindergarten and it must have been neat to see a video

of actual classtime. Awsome!!

Tamara,

That really is my favorite part of each conference. It is really impossible

to just sit and observe him at school without disrupting everything. I love

that they take the time to videotape so I can see just what he is up to.

-Amy,

That sounds great. It seems the sun really does come out after the

rain. Not only the kids, but, the situation with Cam. That's great

that Kep raises his hand. I like the idea of small group learning

for kids who have done well with ABA, its a great transition. I also

like the idea of k at age 6, in New York there is a lot of pressure

to be doing a lot of academics at 5 that are meant for 6 y.o( a lot

because the reading scores here really stink). Its good they can tell

he can read. My only thinking is, that if he read, maybe he doesnt

need sight words. I am big on phonics learning if the kid already can

read. I went through the letter sounds with eric in K (well he

learned from the large group in school) and we did blends from a

childrens song tape. I think youre right, he probably is acting up

because of the less attention, on the other hand, we all react

(adults too) to less attention. It is really great to here so many

good things about your child, esp when they have so many problems,

and had to hear about their defiecits. I think kep will continue to

grow and astound you.

I like the idea of small group learning

>for kids who have done well with ABA, its a great transition.

Yes, and one that they need before they start regular school. It was

definitely the right time for Kep because he LOVES this new room.

I also

>like the idea of k at age 6,

Yes, I know he would not be ready this year. It is going to be hard at 6

(he's sooooo big!) but it will be better for him to have one more year to

get ready for the big change.

Its good they can tell

>he can read. My only thinking is, that if he read, maybe he doesnt

>need sight words.

I agree Thea. I think that they are not positive yet, so they are going to

do some testing with the sight words. After that, we can work on different

things. I have no doubt that the kid can read, but they have to be sure. :)

I think youre right, he probably is acting up

>because of the less attention, on the other hand, we all react

>(adults too) to less attention.

Exactly. I see this as a very good normal reaction! They are handling it

properly, and I imagine Kep will adjust soon.

It is really great to here so many

>good things about your child, esp when they have so many problems,

>grow and astound you.

Thanks Thea. I have to agree with you. He has grown so much lately, and I

really hope to see that continue.
