This is a misconception. Exercise is not of great concern to me as I do fairly low carb, (when not eating my choc that is!!! :-)) weight loss does occur with low carb and some people who have lost hundreds of pounds never exercised. It can speed it up some people say, is necessary to stay fit, but for years when people did low fat, they thought one had to exercise to lose weight, not true. Even some real hard core low carbers tell me they still have a hard time ridding themselves of the " lie " exercise and low fat go hand in hand with weight loss, not so.Not for me. Its true the amount of carbs make a difference, as far as fat and exercise go, but it seems under 40-50 gms a day of carbs is the magic number. I managed to practically shed over 80lbs, almost eliminate all my bp meds, neuropathy is better, eliminated the neurotin, labs are great, due for more next week, but when I did higher carb, like over 70-75 I didn't see much improvement, so with lower carb, fat makes no difference, its just a belief hanging around from the low fat days. YMMV of course, and IMHO, but it works for me. Exercise keeps one's body fit, but is not required for weight loss. I do walk, but not for weight loss or lower bg, as it doesn't lower my bg, it used to but not anymore, I walk to stay fit, and it does make me feel better, a sense of well being. I realize many disagree with this theory, but I'm living proof, because when I skip my walking, but still eating my normal way, I don't gain, as far as dm goes and bg, thats progressive, all is well as long as I keep carbs below 40 I'm ok, the minute I cave in, I regret it. But it won't be because of the fat or the walnuts. Only concern of walnuts will be the carbs, not the fat. well i'm through rambling now :-) carol ---------------------------------
