Guest guest
I know I am a little late in posting (responding), but sorry to hear about the false alarm on . A gentleman I know here in Houston who rec'd a tx 6 years ago had 2 false alarms before finally getting the call. Once, he made it to the hospital and was told it was a no-go. Another time, he was called and told to get going only to be called back and told to wait. 30 min. or so later, no dice. Eventually he was called about 2 am and told to stay put - they may have one available. Turns out, the young man who was supposed to receive the liver, 21 years old, decided to go out with some of his " caregivers " to celebrate his 21st BD. Well for some reason they allowed him to drink and when his number was called, he had alcohol in his system - no organ for him. My friend was called because he was the closest to the hospital and he is alive and kicking today. Just goes to show you, you never know what will happen. I pray the next one is the real deal. Guest guest
Hi Sandy, ....sorry it’s taken a bit of a while to get back to you... I was notified on Monday I was successful applicant to be Consumer Rep for respiratory diseases on the Steering Committee of the Clinical Practices Improvement Centre, Qld. Is this something similar to your role with MHU?? You mention you had callers w/ bronch ( & depression/ptsd) from this area – I’m keen for people –esp from remote/regional areas up here - to contact me re any issues they have esp access to med help, info, treatment, etc etc. all the more so if bronch... Lots attention on emphysema (smoking related) but little on any of the 8-9 other orphan resp diseases. We had warmed up quite a lot, then fires... But the last week, at last some rain & really quite cool again....lovely! I attend my first meetings on 26 and 27th this month. Have spent til 8pm the last 2 nights downloading and sorting the plethora of material sent, trying to decipher what was priority, fill in forms and return etc etc.... All this on top of usual appts & 2 extra due to discovery of acute glaucoma, which can cause sight loss quite quickly – bit of a scare. Had laser treatment both eyes... Just what I need right now, already had 12+ appts last month!! Oh, well, a good thing was- delivery of a massage (not foc) belt which has proved effective so far at getting deep-seated gunk & plugs out....lots evidence today, 3rd day using it, less than 2 wks since off abx... Not much hope for abx every really ‘fixing’ anything, only gives about a week’s relief. No more cpt available, so hoping this device with do the trick and keep infx-free! Anyhow, I’m off to have a rest, been a long week, and it’s only Wednesday!! Cheers, joy
Guest guest
Hey Joy, glad to hear you have a massage belt to save you the pounding and effort and get that stuff up! Congrats on being selected for the board, too. You'll be a really helpful addition with all your lung knowledge. Kay Re: Sandy Hi Sandy,...sorry it’s taken a bit of a while to get back to you... Guest guest
hi Sandy, the hospital decision only happened last Wednesday have been on neb Tobra more than a week, no improvement at all, so in for PIC insertion on Tues then a portacath on 29th, for IV... I just hope I'm not given same old same old as they haven't worked in the past.... won't know i suppose till I'm in there. the weather is hot and dry again after a few promising - cooling - showers. Afraid all the 'drama' is happening closer to your coastline - last night between 1 & 3 am so the TV said. I've got the house closed up against the heat again, I need to be able to function, to pack so ready tomorrow or next day..... (depending on bed availability). I'll catch up with everyone when I get home, sometimes after 29th.... thx everyone, for all the support, it makes such a huge difference, joy
