Guest guest
Thanks for this inf.. I am getting to where I need to make a decision. I have Hashi, and adrenal issue as well as estradiol 12, progesterone 0.6, FSH 21 yet I am 49, still having periods and my testosterone is OK and my dhea is what my DR calls robust at 198 range 44-352. I am taking a saliva test for the estradiol at day 25 to see what amount is available. He wants me to use a plant bio-equivalent. am debating but it is all so confusing. estrogen replacement help! Dear friends, Well I made it though my bone density. Seems I have thinning of my right hip and spinal aea. I saw a gynocologist yesterday for another symptom and she said it was not to late to take topical estrogen. I had a total hysterectomy at age 30 and I am now 63. I never was able to take hormones as they gave me migrains. I am now having symptoms from a lack of estrogen. Any suggetions on what topical estrogen would be helpful? Also should I be tested for anything before I begin? I wondered if the estrogen would need to be monitored. thank you Martha
Guest guest
My understanding is that only adrenal can be effectively tested with saliva; that female hormone tests are not valid. Your estradiol needs to be tested on day 14, not day 25. Val in Boulder, CO Thanks for this inf.. I am getting to where I need to make a decision. Guest guest
I just called the DR back. It needs to be day 18 to 21 from that first day of your last period. The reason for saliva is that a small but potent portion of the body's circulating hormone enters saliva-the bio-available or free-fraction of the hormone. Testing in the saliva shows the body's need for hormone replacement. That part is a quote from the pamphlet. estrogen replacement help! Guest guest
IMO if you are of a certain age you don't really have to test hormones over and over, since they fluctuate so much anyway. that's why a smart hormone doc is helpful. Saliva hormone tests never were accurate for me, now I just use what is recommended for my age (55). I think balanced hormones are best--tri-est, progesterone, DHEA, testosterone. Guest guest
I think if you got tri-est/progesterone, DHEA would help you as well. My tests for DHEA (except for 24 hr urine) were always normal, but it helped a lot. You can ask a pharmacist at http://www.womensinternational.com Gracia > > My dhea is very good as is my testosterone free and regular my progesterone is low as is my estradiol. > > Re: estrogen replacement help! > > > > IMO if you are of a certain age you don't really have to test hormones over > and over, since they fluctuate so much anyway. that's why a smart hormone > doc is helpful. Guest guest
>I nearly went crazy on the tri-est and compounded progesterone. Same. Have been on the above (though bi-est with progesterone) for 8 months, and my female hormonal symptoms got progressively worse. And so far, I haven't been able to work it out, so am changing to Femhrt until we can figure the next step---hopefully back to natural somehow, someday. Guest guest
you might want to check your cortisol and DHEA. I think cortef should be put in the drinking water instead of flouride, crackerjacks, happy meals..... Luckily my compounded hormones are helping me. Let's see--reading the ingredient list: flour, sucrose, lactose, cortef, salt.... Actually, my DHEA is great. This is a problem I've had my entire adult life--severe symptoms with every period. It went away when I started on HRT a few years ago. What a relief. I wasn't menopausal--- just wanted to get rid of the hormonal dips of my cycle which seemed to correlate with my bad, bad symptoms. And it did!! But when Armour did such wonders for me, I decided to also switch to natural female last December---bi-est and progesterone (and thanks to you--ahem. hahaha!) But within two months after I had switched, things started going downhill---reintroduction of period, PMS, definite irritibility, depression right before the period, achiness...DANG!!!!!!!!! Guest guest
My dhea is 198 which is way up there. I don't think taking more when that is mid to high normal and all others but testosterone are low would be a good idea. That would throw me further out of balance and my strain whatever is causing the aldosterone to be 2 from a range of 6-44 Two different Drs. have said just look at estrogen and thyroid now. Why would you think I need dhea? Guest guest
So what are you doing now? Is anyone doing the Osteogel from France?
