hi Tamara,

sorry it's taken a while to answer.... I go into hospital tomorrow

but have wanted to answer your post. You mention not responding to

meds - it's not about your immune system, but it could be that the

particular 'bugs' you have have become resistant to the abx. Have

you had a sputum culture to see what pathogens you have, and also to

test for resistance? That's a good start-point when they're not

working. Sometimes a break is needed for sensitivity to return.

However, I'm told by all my docs that once resistance develops,

because there's always some sputum left behind and partially affected

by the medication but not killed it then breeds up into a resistant

form. So there's always some degree of resistance.

I'm sending you a great article on bronchiectasis to your private

email - usually I wait for permission but as I'm going into hospital

tomorrow for a while I'd like to send it asap.

Another factor in not feeling like you're getting any better is that

pneumonia is renowned for being a hard one to get over - especially

if have lung problem already, so give yourself time, keep up the good

eating habits and gentle build-up of exercise, but try not to push

yourself for a while.

I do hope you're starting to feel on the mend, and that your new dr

is getting a good handle on things - it makes such a huge difference!!!

I must be away, and I'll send that article...

cheers,

Joy
