First, thanks to all who replied to my last post -- for listening to my

'venting', and for your great support and encouragement.

The past 24 hours has been interesting ... my intake, BGs etc. were as follows:

FRI 8/2 - 10:30 PM ...... Finished an all-you-can-eat king crab leg dinner

at Red Lobster. Ate one cheese biscuit, 70% of the tossed green salad with

a little bleu cheese dressing, and about 7 four-leg clusters of crab

legs. Ice water with lemon, no dessert.

SAT 8/3 - 8:45 AM ...... BG reading 168 ... better than I expected, but

not great. NO breakfast.

" 3:30 PM ...... BG reading 126 ... much better ! Best

reading for perhaps the entire summer, so far ! For a late lunch, I ate 2

small frozen burritos with 2 oz. cheese and fresh salsa made from my garden

stuff.

" 7:15 PM ...... Dinner - four (4) tacos, corn tortillas;

10 oz. ground beef; 4 oz. cheddar cheese; chopped tomatoes, onions and

lettuce; 4 TBsp. sour cream; fresh salsa made from my garden stuff. Added

another couple TBsp. ground beef, 2 oz. cheese and 2 TBsp. sour cream to

the leftover 'bitlets' on plate. Finished it off using another corn tortilla.

" 10:00 PM ..... Dessert: l-a-r-g-e soft-serve vanilla ice

cream cone.

" 11:40 PM ..... BG reading (cringed as I waited for the

meter to beep) .... 117 !!!!!

I have no idea how I got one of the best BG numbers I've had in literally

months, after a very large dinner and a big ice cream cone, not to mention

the stress I vented about yesterday. Well, I am planning a careful day

tomorrow, and see if I can get under 110.

Again, thanks to all for your kind, supportive comments after my post

yesterday. You're the best.

Sincerely,

- Dave G.

Hi Dave ;-)

**BG reading 126 ... much better ! Best

reading for perhaps the entire summer, so far ! **

Congrats on getting lower ;-)

Are you wanting suggestions? If so...... One way to lower your bg's would be

to drop the cheese biscuit, tortillas around burritos, corn tortillas, large

cone. I'm not sure if you are looking for ways to lower your numbers, but if

you are, many of us avoid those foods.

Also, you need to be testing 2 hours after each meal if you want to know how

those meals are affecting you. I'm a horrible example myself, but it's better

to eat regular meals than to pig out for one and miss the next ;-) I miss

quite a few meals because I am just not hungry. Sometimes that makes me

hungrier for the next time....a bit of a problem ;-)

Keep on plugging! Every success makes it easier and more rewarding to keep

trying harder ;-)

Dave that's so good :-) My husbands uncle had diabetes and just ate

normally. He never overate and watched his sugar a bit and lived to be

almost 90 with no complications. He golfed everyday and I think that

helped get in his exercise...but he never obsessed on food all day. I

think it was Pam that said that she did not want to think about diabetes

24/7 but wanted to live life!!

And what a good life with Tacos and ice-cream and a good reading!! sus
