We currently advocate the traditional, open technique for gastric bypass. The

procedure has fewer complications than the laparoscopic techique. The

procedure lasts about one third the time. But most importantly, there is no

long term data for the laparoscopic gastric bypass technique, especially with

the super obese that can be compared to the open technique.Issues of scars

really should be secondary to concerns of safety and long-term weight loss.

What was the doctor's response? I tried to go check it out but I couldn't

find it. I would have loved to answer that question for the guy. I admit I

just love tearing in to people like that.

I just went on there & it's all still there. First is the article about

the woman who had the surgery, then at the bottom is the chat

from earlier today. I tried to post a reponse myself to that guy

during the chat but it never made it through. Oh well, I guess

I know, I was actually surprised that the Moderator let that guy's

message go through, knowing that thousands of overweight

people looking into gastric bypass would be participating in the

chat, ya know? That was pretty rude, to say the least. I also found

out that Dr. ph Capella is the Plastic Surgeon, it's his father,

Dr. Capella, that preforms the Gastric Bypass. I guess

they have their practice together, makes sense...

Yeah, that would make sense. And he may not understand how hurtful a

comment that may be. He very well may have thought that his answer

would suffice, not his fault really. However, it would have been nice

if some of us or anyone on " our side of the fence " would have had the

opportunity to comment.

Thanks for sending the link. I just read it. The let him off way to

easy if ya ask me ;-)

Your right there are always going to be people like him out there. It's
