I would be afraid if I were you also about self medicating because there are so

many lines that cross in our diseases, but I would switch DR.s I have become

the Queen of firing. Why are you self- treating?-

Because I am sick and tired of changing doctors and depending on them to

understand correct dosing on top of using T3. I couldn't even get my doc to give

me the test till I stamped my feet and turned blue!

I did get a Top Doc referral off if 's list but she does not have an

availble apt. until late Sept! In the meantime. I wait and wait probably only to

find a " top doc " isn't really all that " tops. "

About my fear regarding natural hormones, my biggest fear is that they won't

work and I will be stuck living like a " zombie " for the rest of my life. Makes

me very, very sad.

I did have problems with heart racing, still do at times. Cardiologist said

that they really cannot find any reason for it except that sometimes the

electrical impulses get " jammed " . He said that he could put me on beta blockers,

but

advised against it unless the palps became debilitating. I chose not to.

I started Effexor shortly after and the palps stopped for the most part. I

didn't realize that they were from food allergies/sinus meds. Today I listen mu

Have you contacted the Broda Foundation and asked them for a DR in your

area? Go to the about.com list in you area and see if they have a current list.

I had bad luck with every DR off the list. They all gave me Synthyroid. Today is

day 1 Armour for me. By the way, I pushed and got no where except frustrated

with closed DR.s.

I so agree with Janie, but I think one of the most overlooked thyroid

problems is adrenal, since adequate cortisol is needed to get thyroid

hormone into cells (resistance), and to convert T4 to T3. Cortisol (cortef)

is safe and effective at low doses, and is probably THE crucial hormone for

autoimmune diseases. I base that on the fact that Dr. Lee says progesterone

cream cures autoimmune diseases in his practice/experience, and progesterone

is a cortisol precurser.

And I will say that I think I was as sick as Janie, near death, and now I

am thriving on Armour and adrenal hormones.

Hi Janie-

I am currently on 137mcg of Levothyroid, no Cytomel.Look at signature line

for other drugs I am taking. I was on Synthroid when first diagnosed 7 years

ago. Free T3 taken with another whole thyroid panel on 07/10. I called this

afternoon for the results and am waiting for a return call.

Current thyroid panel as of 06/03:

T3 uptake In range-28.2 Reference 22.0-35.0

T4 Free calculated 2.88

1.53-3.85

T4 Total 10.2

4.5-12.0

TSH 1.28

0.40-5.50

Thank you so much for your time and consideration.

It means a lot.

Warmly,

I think you are doing a great job of figuring stuff out. It can be so

hard and confusing and then some of the fog lifts, and most of the time we

realize we are not well served by the medical powers that be. have you

read any of the good thyroid books? I like Broda , Brownstein

and Durrant Peatfield MD.
