Guest guest
Pam, I can't answer your question about the stuff that the urologist mentioned but I have a friend that might be able to help you out. She has Interstitial Cystitis. I do get pain inside my vagina but it's at the top of my vagina around an area where there is a piece of skin that runs from the top of my vagina down to the cervix. And the reason that it hurts is b/c I also have endometriosis. Sorry that I can't be more help to you. I wish you all the best at getting an answer. ===== Kristy http://www.geocities.com/sokokl/kristyspersonalpage.html __________________________________________________
Guest guest
Pam, I also have the sand paper feeling and the burning in the urethra, although the urethra usually only burns when I pee (especialy after sex). I've never heard of that surgery you mentioned. But then I have not had many problems with urinary tract infections or what not. My urethral burning has nothing to do with bladder infections. Dr. on told me that both of thease problems are related to my depleation of estrogen from the Depo I was on for so long and that the sand paper feeling was also a symptom of the Vestibulitis. The Estrace cream that she had me apply directly to the glands, hymen, and urethra opening has helped quite a bit with this. Your symptoms sound an awfely lot like mine, I think you will find Dr. on very helpful. Let me know how things go:) ----Original Message Follows---- From: RSand66893@... Reply-To: VulvarDisorders To: VulvarDisorders Subject: ?? Date: Tue, 01 May 2001 02:49:13 -0000 Does anyone else have internal vaginal burning with pain and burning in the urethra? Mine feels like I have sand paper rubbing inside me all the time. My obgyn sent me to a urologist and I had the scoping done which showed that my urethra was red and inflamed. He also did a pelvic and rectal exam which was very uncomfortable. This urologist is one of the top in his field and he strongly feels that it is muscle nerve re- lated and has recommened bio-feed back and if that does not help he would like me to consider nero-stimulation surgery. Has anyone heard of this type of surgery? He did give me alot to read and a couple of web sites to check out but it talks mostly about this type of surgery being done for bladder problems. I do have urgency to to urinate all the time (I know where every bathroom is located in every store and gas station in Minnesota and part of Wisconsin!) but it dose not talk about this type of surgery being done for VV. I am so confused! It is so hard to know what to do. Thanks. Pam P.S. Am working on getting another opinion with 's doctor in Milwaukee _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com
Guest guest
consider nero-stimulation I wonder if this is the surgery they do for IC and or vulvodynia where they implant a device in your back attach to nerves in back , which eliminates pain...One of my friends who went to the Helena allergy clinic said she ran into another women with IC and vulvodynia who has one, it is major surgery...the device clearly sticks out of back, like transister radio, she is now, for first time, pain free...Jackie
Guest guest
Hi Everyone, Thanks for all your input about the neuro-stimulation therapy. I actually had some time to do some research on it, and it's not quite as scary as I thought but still plan on doing the bio-feed back therapy and getting another opinion before I make the decision to have surgery. The surgery would consist of two surgeries done as an out patient surgery. Stage one would be putting a lead near the spinal column in the sacral area, the lead is connected to cable and the cable is connected to an external stimulator. If symptoms improve then you move on to stage two where they put the stimulator internal. Still plan on getting another opinion from Dr. Thomanson before I would make the decision to have surgery, my body has been through a lot the last couple of years from previous surgeries and really don't want to go through any kind of surgery again unless I feel I am going to have positive results. Guest guest
Hi Pam, Yes!! A broken tailbone many time results in a malposition of the tailbone and the tailbone is where the muscles of the floor attach. A pull to one or the other side can increase tone in that segment and over time be causing or at least adding to the pain. If the asymmetry is so bad then the peudendal nerve and blood vessels can be compressed as they pass between the Sacro-tuberous / Sacro-spinus ligaments and the tendon of the obturator internus.Anything strong enough to break the bone may have also altered the position of the sacrum as well and that spells backpain. Find a good non-manipulative manual therapist !!! TKOPT RSand66893@... wrote: > Hi Everyone, > > I have a question and I'm wondering if any of you could > answer it. Guest guest
Tom, When you say a non-manipulative manual therapist do you mean a chiropractor? > Hi Pam, > Yes!! Guest guest
, I would love the name of the PT. I started to see one a few months ago in Woodbury that my obgyn sent me to. She was with Health South and also treated women with vulvodynia. I quit going because I started having the urethra problems and it was just to uncomfortable to have her do the pressure points.
