Guest guest
As I sit here having coffee before going into work (it's 0550 here) I all ready know it's going to be a bad day. I saw on the news that there was a shooting on the overnight shift. That means the tape requests are probably all ready on my desk. They will sit there too <shrug> as I am still down two people and the a** that designed the center 4 years ago saw fit to put the whole recording and play back system in another room. The dispatch center is in shambles as we are in the slow process of completely remodeling and completely replacing the consoles and cads. I have a newbie starting on Monday and if that works out I will only be short one person. I guess that means less of the 55-60 hour work weeks I have been doing for the last year (yah right) Thankfully the Chief understands this and never pressures me for anything (he knows that in between calls I am doing the required stuff). My job description says that my job is a 40 hour a week management position. Do I do that after I spend sixty hours on the board (6 tens last week). I am tired and I have not even finished my first coffee yet. And I took the supervisors job of my own free will <grins tiredly>. Darn! The press is still lined up outside the PD. Down fall of working in NH. Shootings are a rarity here. First one in my town in the five years I've been here. (other the self inflicted that is). Nut calls? You bet. We are checking out more suspicious people, vehicles and packages in a day then we normally do in a week. Racial profiling? You bet, but in these uncertain times that will happen. And as long as the officer can articulate the suspicion that led to the stop then all is well per the state A's office. Crazy calls? Got those too. Had a " strange looking case wrapped with duct tape with wires hanging out of it. " Any guesses as to what it was? Bueller? Bueller? It was an old boombox that fell out of the back of a carpenters truck. Thanks to all for the venting time. The ramblings are all my own and are not those of nor are they endorsed by my department. Al Young Peace and may we always bring them home safely
