Guest guest
ah, was waiting for someone with the same answer!!! I bought the 45 of " Da Doo Run Run " which I played until I drove my mother crazy and she broke it! Got the album for Christmas, still have it and put it on once in a blue moon. Donny Osmond and Sonny and Cher were other favorites... My 19 yoa cousin was amazed a couple of years back when Phil covered " Groovy Kind of Love " and she found out it wasn't new! About as surprised as I was when I learned that " Da Doo Run Run " was a remake of the old Crystals tune.... Re: 911:: Be Careful - You'll Date Yourself >The first album I bought was Cassidy. Guest guest
<< Who remembers Como? Fabian? >> Ok, what about " Welk " ....not Lawrence Welk or the Lawrence Welk show but " Welk " .........I have met so many people who's grandparents refered to him only by his last name.....and Art Linkletter! There was an article on him in TV Guide recently and apparently he's still quite active. And yes I remember and Fabian........and Sal Mineo! Guest guest
Dang it Marie, cut that out! I remember most of it and my oldest is only 13! My family was not 'well to do' had an out house until we built the 'new house' in 1960. <Howdy Doody and Buffalo Bob?> YUP <Do you know who Buttermilk and Trigger were?> YUP <How about " Nellie Belle " ?> Don't recall this one. < " Fibber McGee and Molly " ?> Oh yeah! < " The Shadow " ?> Only the Shadow knows! < " American Bandstand " Yes, Dick looked almost the same then as now, wish I did!> With his money we all could have that problem!! <Did you ever see a TV that was so small that people bought big magnifying screens to sit in front of them, so the picture would be larger?> Before my time (finally one I can't relate to!) <A coke was a nickel. (Also, it was just used to describe a carbonated drink!) A Saturday matinee was 10 cents!> Cherry syrup - no extra charge! At the soda fountain in the drug store of course! <Not only were we on a " partyline " , we also had a crank telephone. I was only about 4 and we lived in a very rural area.> Party line yes - no crank phone! <I came along after " Pearl Harbor " and have a lot of gray hair. But figure I earned every one of them with a family and 29 years in " our profession " .> Only 13 years in the business...but I've earned every grey hair! <And I still haven't said exactly what my age is. I know I have maybe told an individual or two on this list, so hopefully they won't tell. I think Vern may be running a little ahead of me, since he has a 40 year old son, my oldest is 35! Let me tell you, there comes a point when you are so glad that you have made it through so many years that you don't worry about your age or vanity. You are just glad you still wake up in the morning, all of your family is still with you and you are able to go to work.> AMEN! <Now, Deb, do you remember any of the above? Just kidding! Don't want to pressure anyone.> Marie - you've got a real mean streak! I like that!! Maybe someday we can see each other in person...of course the eye sight is one of the first things to go...so maybe not! The Tell Overture will always be the cue for the words " Heigh ho Silver, Away " and Guy was a fave of mine long before he joined with June Lockhart (who I always remembered more as Timmy's mom) and crew to wander the universe " Lost in Space " Freida Nicholson wrote: > Does anyone else remember Sky King?
