Guest guest
Varices are the result of portal hypertension; this is elevated blood pressure in the portal blood system, the blood vessels between the stomach and the liver. It can be treated by using beta-blockers. Low dosages of selective beta-blockers tend to have less adverse effects although they can still cause orthostatic hypotension (blood pressure that drops significantly when you get up from either lying or sitting causing you to feel like or actually pass out), increased fatigue, decreased or inhibited sexual appetite or ability (mainly in males). Not all or any of these happen to everyone who takes these meds. Patti, SAMe is not available under the emergency release program because the manufacturer is not making it available. They made that decision, not Health Canada. Aubrey
