Hi Norma,

Sorry it took me a while to get back to you. Missed a couple days of e-mail with all my kids and grandkids here for Easter and today. I do put two pillows under my hips on the tall side of the wedge so my head is quite a bit lower than my hips and lungs. My husband does the pounding (we call it) on all four sides, since it's very hard for a person to really pound hard enough on themselves, and to relax enough while pounding themselves for it to work very well. And, of course, we can't pound on our backs by ourselves, so when my husband isn't here it just isn't the same. Did you have someone strong pounding on all four sides as you lay head-down on the wedge with pillows under your hips for added height?

As the other writer said, a memory foam wedge won't be firm enough. I would think being smaller would be an advantage, since a taller person's head will be farther down the wedge or off it entirely, as mine is (thus not getting as steep an angle). I'm slim, but 5"7'' tall.

It's strange there are no furniture re-upholsteing places in your city. Most towns have a place where supplies can be bought to re-upholster one's own chairs, etc, with foam for sale to use in the project. Maybe you could ask at a large fabric shop if they know of such a place.

Good luck!

Kay Kay - bed wedge

Kay,

I tried using your procedure for postural drainage using the bed wedge that I bought at Bed, Bath and Beyond to elevate my head, but I must have done something wrong as it did not seem to work well for me. Even though I have the vest, I also do postural drainage in the afternoon to clear my lungs completely. I would like to have a wedge made to my own body size, but we do not have any furniture manufacturers in Austin. I could not find any in the telephone books. Memory foam is very expensive, and it would have to be designed to fit my body size. I am very thin (92 lbs. and about

5' 41/2").
