Guest guest
A lot of kids are reportedly allergic to soy. I, myself, respond badly to all GMO products. I don't respond in any noticeable manner to the non-GMO soy products. So, some may only respond badly to the GMO soy, and some may be allergic to all soy. I feel woozy, poor concentration, and off-balance from GMO soy. I think the only way to tell if it's non-GMO is that it will say non-GMO or organic soy on the label. For an entire product to be called organic, it only has to be like around 97% organic. So, the product could be organic, and still have GMO soy in it. The labels will usually say organic soy if the soy in it is organic and/or non-GMO. To be organic soy, the soy has to be non-GMO. I have called companies before and asked them if their soy was GMO or not. They all have said it was non-GMO, but I am not sure I believe it to be true. It should say so in writing on the label. Love and prayers, Heidi N > > I see this ingredient in new Anti inflammatory supps given - Calm PRT and Avipaxin. My son is +3 for soy. Should this be a comcern? Guest guest
Just a side note-- It's in nearly every packaged food as well Ive noticed over the yrs as my son has always had problems w soy.. think its an emulsifier. we havent noticed the same problems with it as we have w soy protein (gastrointestinal issues). Im not sure if he has any problems with it at all. I think it is usually used in small amounts (I only say that as it is the last ingredient listed usually). Another concern is that I am sure it is GMO soy most of the time. To: BorreliaMultipleInfectionsAndAutism Sent: Thu, May 26, 2011 9:17:32 AMSubject: Re: Soy Lecithin I know it would bother my son. Guest guest
sadly not accurate in kids with haywire bodies....you can get onto a gfcf group and find that to be completely false. all kinds of kids reacting to both the OIL and the lecithin just like they do the protien. in the same way that kids with issues with peanuts can't have things cooked in peanut oil. no different, a peanut is a peanut, soy is soy From: franselw@... Guest guest
I agree with Christel. If there's even a slight chance of any kind of issue with soy, I wouldn't play with fire like that, trying to differentiate between the soy protein, oil and lecithin and thinking it's ok because it's not " that bad " of an issue. The irritation it would cause leads to gut inflammation, which leads to a compromised immune system. The more effectively you eliminate the irritation by removing all irritants, the better chance of the immune system building up to be able to fight pathogens on its own. sadly not accurate in kids with haywire bodies....you can get onto a gfcf group and find that to be completely false. all kinds of kids reacting to both the OIL and the lecithin just like they do the protien. in the same way that kids with issues with peanuts can't have things cooked in peanut oil. no different, a peanut is a peanut, soy is soy From: franselw@... Guest guest
There are other sources of lecithin now, so why play with the possibility of reaction to soy lecithin if soy is an issue? I have seen lecithin supplements from eggs (more expensive) and sunflower (quite affordable, at least at iHerb.com). Anne M., BSN, MSN/IH, RNmcfighter@...
