No;but she is gone now from UM and when there did much clinical research on supplements; the CFIDS people there recommend quite a few of them in a protocol with apparent success, unusual for a hard science university, yet dismiss LD to the netherworlds, at least mine. To: BorreliaMultipleInfectionsAndAutism Sent: Thu, May 12,

Thanks for this post Jeanette. It was actually my daughter's developmental pediatrician who recommended the high dose of melatonin. He insisted it is totally benign no matter how high you go - so I will call him on this and see what he says. Did the nurse mention any studies/literature re chemo effect of high dose melatonin?

And all biochem needs fluctuate according to environmental stuff, internal and external, time of day, age, toxicity, methylation ability, etc. Scary and boring and tedious all at the same time. To: BorreliaMultipleInfectionsAndAutism Sent: Thu, May 12, 2011 1:22:33 PMSubject:

Melatonin overdose = 9-10 mg. per NP Re: Re: Aggression

Hi Kim and Jeanette,

This is another one of those things that is contradictory depending on the doc. My DAN says melatonin is a good thing in higher dose, especially before bed time. He takes it himself. It helps the immune system apparently. Dr. Balsh (Prescription for Nutritional Healing author) who has written several books and whose wife is a nutritionist/herbalist also advocates in his more recent book melatonin and its safety. However, other doctors, like Dr. Goldberg, say melatonin is a no-no except for intermitent use, and think he likens it to a sleeping pill.

It is very confusing, to say the least. I haven't done a google search on melatonin, but maybe someone will venture into that foray.

When I was weaning my child off of the powerful (heavy) prescription psychotropics, our doc and I put her on, among other things, 3 mg melatonin 4x/day (total of 12 mg/day). To me, it was a no-brainer. I am just now starting to wean it down to see how she does.

I guess with anything you consider giving, whether it is a medication or supplement, you have to weigh the risk vs. the benefit. Even supplements are not totally benign.

Hope this helps some.

Because most people and docs think inside the box; some really want to help but the cases have already become too complex for them; think that everything is what they were taught in dummy brainwashing school; are not working both halves and 99.9% of their brains; are brainwashed with money or power comfort or all three and are terrified of losing these and their grant money, luxuries; do not keep up with latest research (check out all the stuff on Trevor Marshall if you want cutting edge); too lazy; do not care (no compassion, just ego and narcissism); are motivated mostly by what their peers will think if they step out of line or think outside the box... Do not accept biochemical and Soul uniqueness and mission and are asleep and like it that way. So, with this low level

of consciousness, folks of opposing opinions often do not work together and cooperate for a richer knowledge base to serve the greater good. But more and more people/docs do; people must swim upstream to find what works for them and figure out how to afford it.To: BorreliaMultipleInfectionsAndAutism Sent: Sat, May 14, 2011 7:16:55 PMSubject: Melatonin overdose = 9-10 mg. per NP Re:

Re: Aggression

Wow. Thanks all for the posts on melatonin. I wonder why there is so much difference in opinion between professionals?

Thanks Sara.

I just wanted to see if there was any other supps you have used for calming that

I do not have in my arsenal.

I'm not a newbie, I know about diet, toxicity, inflammation, the hows and whys

of how toxins affect behaviours etc etc :)

I am mainly using calming supps right now to get my child stable... I need to

get MY sanity back before I delve into the next treatment... after 8 years of

this I am burnt out at both ends.
