Well lets see.

There is the matter of:

Airfare

Conference Fee

Spending Money...(coffee)

and time.

Car? Would we need a car?

Jacqui is in school, so for me it would be fairly easy. (Time wise).

Let me know what you think Grace.

You BET I'm serious.

I would really like to go. No... I would pretty much do anything to go.

So much so, in fact, that I reserved a hotel room. LOL.

> Airfare

Brief research indicates it will be about 350 dollars from my area.

The thing is, this is in Wilkes Barre, PA. Well, which airport does one fly

into? Philly? Pittsburgh? And then there is a Scranton Int'l Airport?

What the - - - -?????

> Conference Fee

$135. Got that DOWN, baby. LOL

> Spending Money...(coffee)

$1350 LOL. Well, maybe not so much.... breakfast and lunch is included in

the above conference fee. Dinner is up to us. Drinks are up to us - -and

it says nothing about offering coffee all day.

> and time.

That is where my problem lies.

>

> Car? Would we need a car?

I don't know. Ever been to Wilkes-Barre? Shaun's school loan company is in

that town. I hate that company. That is all I know about the town. If I

disappear on you one evening, I probably went to burn that building down,

LOL. We need to get to a Starbucks. We can't do that without a car. But

do they even HAVE a Starbucks?

>

> Jacqui is in school, so for me it would be fairly easy. (Time wise).

How so?

If my kids were NOT in school, I could commit to this. The problem with

anyone coming to watch them for that duration of time (from the 23rd to the

27th) is that someone has to take them to and from school, bring them home

in time for the home program..... and while my parents can always watch

them, I don't know that they will be able to pull this off every morning.

Her father of course.

He can take her to school - He can pick her up.

I think he could handle that for a few days...

(remember, Jacqui is in school all day)

Penny :-) - who hopes there are two beds in that Hotel room ;-)

erg.

I just searched for Starbucks and came up empty.

Isn't all day still only up to 3 PM or so?

Dh can get off that early?

Well anyhow, my girls need to be picked up a 12:15 starting from next week.

:o(

> Penny :-) - who hopes there are two beds in that Hotel room ;-)

Nope. Call it my only quirk. When I go away, I must have my own hotel

room.

I live for that. My own hotel room that I can mess up as I please, that I

can stay up with the lights on all night if I want to, in which I can watch

TV until 3 AM if I want, sleep as much as I want, etc. etc. etc.

:o) I've always lived for hotels. Believe me, Penny... if I could, when i

go away to Vegas, I'd have my own room, Shaun would have his own room.

Only, he tells me it's illegal for a husband and wife to have seperate rooms

in a hotel, LOL. Often, he looks over at me, and says, " You wish I'd go

away, huh? " I just smile, LOL.

o.k. guys, I am interested. But, I would not want to

go alone. Who is all going. Anyone driving from the

midwest area. I would love to carpool. I'm not real

big on flying, but if I can't drive and could get a

good deal.....I'd have to look into the rates. Also,

sign me up for sharing a fat chicks room. LOL.

Seriously...anyone driving from that far away? I

would love to meet some of you guys. I know I could

get my mom to babysit, but the other logistics are a

little harder.

Tamara - where are you coming from?

*I* am definitely going. Jacquie has booked a room, and I would say she is

definitely going except for the fact that she could freak out and decide

that she doesn't want to see any of us in person.

Penny is supposed to go, but because I dissed her once ages ago, it is

entirely possible she will end up dissing me.

BJ, , and might drive out for a day, but not attend the

conference.

Do I have everyone?

Helaina, dear, anyone can go if they have the time and the money and

somewhere to leave their kids. I, for one, do not and I have a 15 year old

who doesn't go anywhere and can't stand for me to leave either. Trust me,

most of us will not be there, but we will all enjoy hearing about it from

those who do make it. If you could find a way to go, everyone would be

absolutely delighted to see you!

I would be coming from Wisconsin, but I can drive or

fly. I just would rather not do it alone. That

sounds like I'm a baby, but I am really nervous about

travelling alone. I am pretty sure I can get family

support funds to pay for the conference and hotel,

possibly plane ticket if I find a deal and someone to

fly with. My dh would probably come with me, but that

would delete the purpose. I see him all the time, I

want to see you guys. Plus, he would not have a good

time.

Well.... how about your drive to Illinois - - park at Kerri's, have

drive y'all to the airport and fly from there? Then, once it's over, you

can go back to Kerri's, and drive back home from there? How long of a drive

IS it, anyhow?

I would flip out if both of you came. :o) I am already so excited to meet

everyone else, too.

If you need tickets, let me know. I'd be happy to search for you, and so

long as you guys are doing it together, you probably won't mind a stopover

or two, which would really cut the cost down. I didn't want any stopovers

because I'm all by myself. :o(

OKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK..............

So how about Kerri drives up to Milwaukee, and parks at Tamara's, and

Tamara's dh <whom I cannot name as I think he is always referred to as DH>

can drive them both to the MILWAUKEE airport, and you could fly out to PA?

And THEN, Kerri can drive back home from Wisconsin to wherever she came

from.

Better? LOL!!!

Why do you hate O'Hare? I love that airport!

Milwaukee's cool with me. I live about an hour north

of Madison. So even O'Hare would be cool with me. We

flew out of Milwaukee when we went to Vegas last year.

I definetely would like to go. I am going to get the

info to the family support peole ASAP and see if the

funding will come through. We get a thousand a year

for autism stuff, so it shouldn't be a problem. Even

if they don't pay for it though, I would find a way to

pay for it. Sounds like a great time. I've never

been to a conference before as there have been none

near enough and dh never wants to go.

Wow.

So the list, for the moment is:

For sure:

Penny - if she ever gets around to talking to her husband about it........

Jacquie

Grace

BJ <for a night>

<for a night... with or without the perfect Stepford kids>

Tentatively:

Tamara

Kerri

and? Am I missing anyone?

Well, I figured if I said " Kerri can go back home " you would retort with

" Why would I want to " or " Who said I'd be coming from home, I'm dropping by

my mother's house first " or something to that effect, LOL.

Best I put it that way... to which you would reply with a smiley-face.

Those links I sent you last night, Penny, are directly into Scranton

Airport, and town Airport, which is only 10 miles from the hotel

(Scranton is, anyhow... town is about one hour away). You could just

grab a cab!!!!

To ride with me, you have to fly into Philadelphia and drive for 2 more

hours. I am all good with that - but hello - - - you would ahve to leave on

an early flight as my flight is direct, and leaves at 8 AM.

The airport is one hour from here <leaving from SFO>... so I probably won't

even sleep the night before LOL!!

What links did you send Grace? Is it something I

could use? Or specific to Penny's location? Send

them on to me if you could if they are something I

could use.

Thanks

This is a longshot but . . . why not contact the organizers of this

conference and volunteer to work the registration desk or the doors

of the event(s) in exchange for a free registration?

A friend of mine got to go to a conference nearby by volunteering.
