I think she's laying low for a while because she felt as though she were being attacked. To those of you who offered advice, understand that I'm not saying she *was* attacked; rather, I'm saying she *felt* attacked. Depression is a weird illness and falls into that category of illnesses that sometimes have a stigma attached to them. Some accept depression as a legitimate illness; others believe that it is a state of mind that can be overcome with a bit of chutzpa. And of course, there are those who believe that both can be true simultaneously. I think diabetes sometimes has a stigma attached to it, as well. Many people believe that if we just controlled what we ate and took better care of our bodies, we wouldn't have to suffer from this disease. When you hear comments like that, don't you bristle? It's like blaming the victim for being attacked. This is probably how 's feels. Because of how she's feeling, she's in a very vulnerable state and is likely to perceive comments in a spirit other than which they were offered. Maybe we all, at some point or another, get tired of hearing people whine and complain about their miserable lives. We need a safe place to unload our feelings without being clubbed over the head with " solutions. " Isn't that what we're supposed to be here for? G. Guest guest
Yes, , that is what we are supposed to be here for, not for flaming others when they are feeling down. All of us have bad days, when you are depressed, every day is a bad day. And having someone say that we are enabling the person to feel that ways is totally wrong. Guest guest
You are certainly welcome to call it as you see it, but this list is not intended to put anyone down for telling how they feel. Please read the list description. I hope you get some of those calls returned , Maybe you could start a group yourself (placing more ads in the paper) with some of the others that turned up to the meeting, there might be many women who feel like you and would turn up to more meetings. If others are also willing to complain about the lack of health services provided, some thing may be done about it. Just a thought, Anne > The ladies said I looked so terrified!
