Guest guest
Hi Kendra! I, too, live in Calgary!!! I was so excited to get your message, as it's nice to have someone close to home to relate to. I would love it if you could be more specific in your efforts to get your kids banded, such as what is the name of the doctor who you were referred to, was s/he at the Children's Hospital, how much did it cost, how long was your wait to get into the doctor? I think my family doctor said that she was referring us to Dr. Hamilton (I think). Does that ring a bell? This is all so new to my husband and I, and we would LOVE to have any information with regards to where to go and what to do! This has all happened so fast, but I want to get on it now so that we can fix this problem sooner rather than later. We will definitely make the appointment with the specialist, and then go from there! Thanks so much for your words of encouragement and in advance for any other info. you can give us specific to our city! It can sometimes take even a few months to get into a specialist, depending where you are, your baby's age, and severity of head shape. In the mean time, you can do repositioning, and if when your appt. comes around, and your happy with your son's head shape, you can cancel. If things haven't changed much, then you're all set to go with the specialist. ) > > Yes, it's common for doctors to take the " it will fix itself " approach. Unfortunately, this RARELY happens after the first few weeks of a baby's life! After about 6 weeks of age, baby will likely need help in fixing the flatness - whether it's through repositioning (which can work well in young babies) or through therapy with a cranial orthosis. Good for your doctor in making a referral for you! Many just put it off over and over until a parent is so upset and insists! > > You're doing a great job by doing your homework and starting repositioning!!!
