Hi Diane;

in Pa here. Where do you live and how old are you? I am 58

had SX 8 months ago and it took me a while to come back. I could

have gone back half days after 6 weeks but I mean I really would have

had to push myself. So I didnt. LOL. Everyone is different some gals

go back as little as two weeks after SX depending on what type of job

they had.

Diane, I am also having appt.s with dietician, doctor, and

preadmission on Monday, April Fool's Day! My surgery is Wed. Apr. 3,

LAP RNY, so I will be sure and let you know my experience on

everything. Also, my daughter will be with me, and she is planning

same surgery this summer. So she will remember even the stuff I miss,

I'm sure!

I need special kinds of angels - praying ones! I would appreciate it

so much. I have such a peace, though, it is unreal!! I'm more worried

about my husband than me - the sight of needles makes him faint!

I still do not understand the difference between DISTAL AND PROXIMAL. Is there a

source on the site that explains the difference? I had a Lap-RNY last week,

which category does it fall into?

@@@@@ I would definitaly take protein shakes long before SX and also

Biotin for the hair. And some extra vitimans. I would have researched the

types of surgery better to know exactly what I wanted. I would have asked

more thoroughly about DISTAL AND PROXIMAL and also asked my surgeon

How long would my channel probably be and how much intestine would be

bypassed. I hope they are the correct questions. Someone here will correct

it if I am not presenting them correctly.

Thats all for now Diane. I am sure you will get lots of volunteers from here

to be your angel. Good Luck. We will be watching.

Hi Diane!

Welcome to the site. Good luck with all of your appointments on the 1st.

You can buy biotin at GNC (so I'm sure its also available at other stores). I

bought a new supply last week and they were running a buy one get one half-price

special. So I'm stocked up for awhile.

I don't eat anything with sugar or sugar added so don't know about that part of

dumping. I have a tendency to get really bad cramps and diarrhea if I eat

something with too much fat in it. So I try to watch my fat intake as well.

If I could change anything about preparing for surgery it would have been to

convince the insurance company to pay for it. No matter how many hoops I

jumped through or how much I begged and pleaded they just wouldn't budge. I

also would have started the protein and vitamin supplements before surgery.

do you have someone in mind for an angel ? I would have had surgery years ago

and the Biotin is available at Walmart OTC

TN

details and desire

I'm wanting to adopt my own angel...how does that happen here? I

read about people having an angel.

I was asked to give my details and it is kind of refreshing to share

these things instead of keep it inside.

I am 42 5'7 255 bmi right near 40 comorbidities include:

arthritis in both knees is developing, plantar fasciitis mostly in

right foot, 2 disk bulges from injury but impacted by weight,

polycystic ovarian syndrome so high risk for diabetes and other " fun "

things.

I am trying to learn more about this surgery...for example, if I have

a lap RNY with no complications, how many days should I expect to be

out of work. I am a pharmaceutical sales rep and my job entails

driving to dr offices, walk in with a light load when planned

carefully and standing to talk with drs. I can't easily deal with

being off work for 3-4 weeks but can prepare if needed.

I am pretty jazzed that I have all 3 of my evaluations (surgical,

psych and nutrition) all scheduled for the same day...Monday APRIL

FOOLS DAY LOL I really like the office manager and what I have

heard about this practice. I hope it doesn't take too long before we

find out if I am a good candidate and if my insurance is going to

cover the surgery.....don't you just love the wait and see? LOL

other questions: is Biotin available OTC at a reg. drug store? I

want to take it now since my family history involves women getting

thin hair and I don't want that to happen if I can do anything to

help alleviate that occurance.

What percentage of people experience the dumping syndrome? I'm not

afraid of it as it can be part of the tool to help change eating

habits, I would think.

If you could change anything about preparing for this surgery(besides

not waiting so long to have the surgery) what would you change?

I can hardly wait to get mail!!!
