Guest guest
Thank you for your message Joy. I believe that like you, my daughter has never known what it is like to breath "normally".I checked out the group you found but it looks like there are very few posts. I was hoping to be able to meet parents in similar situations to me. Thank you for taking the time to look for me.I'm sorry to hear of all your difficulties. Like you, my daughter knows that she likely will not be able to have children of her own ( & right now is perfectly OK with it).Attached is my daughter's first picture.Subject: Re: Introduction - 13 year old daughterTo: bronchiectasis Date: Tuesday, January 19, 2010, 10:09 AM dear ,just when I'm feeling like I had a bad start....... . omg I cannot imagine how do you cope, your daughter, and other children... so much!!I did come across a parents and families support group while browsing just recently http://health.. groups.yahoo. com/group/ chronic-childhoo d-illnesses/I don't know if it could be of help but it may be a start. My heart goes out to you. I started life a bit rough - bilateral cleft palate, kept back in hospital cos whooping cough was rife, but still got it anyway + pneumonia and collapsed lung ... somewhere circa 6-18 mths old and not expected to live. I'm still here -nearly! 58 yrs later. I was dx with bronch age 18 widespread so with todays technology would likely be dx much younger than that. I don't know what 'normal' breathing, activity, etc is like. But I have had some fun too! I nursed for a while in my 20s, and saw Mum's with their littlies having very minor ops for grommets etc and their anguish and realised then - how hard must it have been for my Mum?I didn't have kids, cos I knew I could hardly look after myself let alone a child...so haven't been on your side of the picture. I will keep looking, and send you anything I find.all the best, JoyConsumer RepresentativeRespiratory DiseasesClinical Practice Improvement Networks Qldendiandralizzy (DOT) com..au
