Taking Band off during feedings

My daughter Maggie is an EXTREMELY messy eater! She ends up with

baby food in her eyes, her ears, on her clothes and on me. Needless

to say, she's getting it all over her band, too. I was wondering if

anyone takes the band off during feedings?

Kristi,

I didn't, and is also a messy messy eater (likes throwing

food at me, or hitting the spoon to knock onto the high chair tray

so she can mush her fingers in it and rub it in her hair - it's

really a lovely sight - can you sense my sarcasm!) Anywhoo, I

didn't take the band off during feeding. I started giving

an extra spoon or toy for each hand to keep her arms occupied and

kept a damp washcloth handy to keep her face clean after each bite.

I just felt that to take the band off for the 3 meals/day AND a bath

was too much time off, but you have to do what works for you...

was a very messy eater when it came to feeding herself which she

was just learning while banded. I one took her band off for a bath

to find green beans in there! YUCK O RAMA!!! I just wiped it down

and carried on. I guess whatever makes you feel comfortable, but

remember these are babies and young toddlers and the bands aren't

going to stay spotless.

We try to leave the band on, but take it off if it gets too messy.

Gus' one hour off is almost always dinner + bath, so that's one less

meal to worry about. Good luck!
