Thanks Sandy

Have the sputum jar ready and the referal for pathology but can never get enough up to spit out anything. I know something is not right and will keep pursuing this till I get an answer but I am convinced I have laryngopharyngeal reflux. Lungy said he didnt hink my bronch had got any worse so next step is either back to the ent or a gastroenterologist. See gp tomorrow for barium swallow results lets hope something showed and some meds will fix it. so sick of this drowning feeling its so bloody unfair

cheers Lee

Hi Lee, Just to talk a minute about this prob since your surgery.

As you know I had same surgery with multiple probs that since have been surgicaly fixed ( well I sure hope so).

I have never been so unwell in years.

I haven't had seretide, but all you have been experiencing is same as I am now again POST 2nd surgery.

I have been seeing doc 3 times a week, no signs of infection- except for 2 days ( 10 days ago) felt like I was infected, tasted like it etc) I hit it quick with triple amounts of garlic, and WATER, soda water and teas etc, for 3 full days-- all that feeling of infection went.

I did still take a sample of my sputum to pathology- asked them to hold till I got to GP ( same day) and he would fax off what he wanted done etc.

I had no infection,

BUT I have again got copius amounts of muccous, sinus ( haven,t had in years) asthma 3 times as bad--

I have the racing pulse and have heart palpatations.

I cough till I am sick, and was coughing all day almost non stop -- BUT I decided that- I noticed the cough was much worse, when talking- on phone ( worse) .

But talking in conversations to people.

I also noticed middle of night- much hotter and a coughing attack, then created asthma etc- lasting 2 hrs from say 2 am to 4 am- and being frustrated, tired feeling crook, and knowing I had plans for the day ahead etc.

I tell everyone NOT to ring me- IF they must they will have to accept do talking and I simply would and could only listen well and reply. more listening than speaking.

IF they had PC email me all, or TEXT me and I would be able to give my lungs, throat and chest muscles, ribs another chance to re heal.

Lee I know you get as tired as me, I know you have almost same other health issues as me-- except the full on allergies to meds.

So I am suggesting you do same as I am, with phone with chatting etc.

ALSO do the garlic, ginger thing but double-- and drink exactly 3 times what you normally do-- and no not the lovely relaxing wine at night even stones will make you dehydrate, and your heart rate run.

BUT also on the morning you are going to GP, have ready a sterile speciman jar, and take with you as much as you can cough up that morning- refridgerate if afternoon appt.

Try and get appt close to time the girls from pathology go in so not to have to refridge too much.

I am now 100% sure mine has been triggered by 2 things- the anaesthetic, that was built up around lungs in my rib area that was cut-- they said it could build for months so to be extra cautios etc.

BUT also the sudden change in weather- really sudden-- from HOT to so steamy it wakes me and I simply gasp when gasping I create the damn cough and cycle starts again.

I called in to see a collegue at work who is in the pharmacy but also in the pathollogy dept at hospital-- she said there was almost %80 of post op patients coming down with so many things- particulary ops done from may june onward.

Fires, and weather extremes -- for people with asthma , bronchitus, sinus etc who also had anaesthetics in past 8 months were so much more at risk for quite long times- under the present weather conditions-- which supports my several docs theories and mine.

I have 2 daughters with same conditions- except post op- and both have been using nebulisers and puffers every day a few times a day for almost 2 months- their kids are using puffers again- when 2 hadn,t needed for over 12 months.

Yesterday I felt a whole lot better-- and was almost out in street celebrating feeling well at last.

BUT 2 am woke and just coughed till sick for 3 hrs-- then finally heard RAIN-- it rained for about 15 minutes- I stood at door and oh felt great-- still coughing--but able to concerntrate and breathe properly.

NOW this morning well a steam bath situation again- humidity through the roof.

and I walked down yard- and low and behold the Gardenias are all in bloom.

Oh golly I couldn,t believe it-- usually weeks before xmas, but now coming into bloom.

We have had them moved down to where sadly I cannot see or smell them- I just cannot tolerate the scent - nor the wet leaves.

At least I know not to go outside that area for a while-- lol.

Lee so pleased you have been able to get that 1 week respite, maybe they can extend if you get letter from gp that YOU MUST have some time to sort your self out a little- the sputum test will tell, and will show if seretide build up etc too.

IF you were never on seretide before I would come off it immediately and go back to your old tried and true now.

Surgery was over 6 months ago-- worth a try.

Take care PLEASE do the sputum thing and all the extra fluids, fish oil, garlic.

Hugs Sandy
