Guest guest Posted September 27, 2001 Report Share Posted September 27, 2001 Shortly after our national crisis I posted a message concerning the need to verify or at least qualify information before posting. Of all people, we know the need for the relay of accurate information. With all the information that's circulating, it's easy to get caught up in a hoax. During the early stages of the attacks even the media has issues with segregating rumor from fact. Secondly, although many of the calls received from citizens in the aftermath may seem a bit of an over-reaction, please remember that many folks are confused and some are even scared. As is the case even with our normal " frequent flyer " callers, we cannot and should not simply dismiss them. I'm not suggesting that anyone here has implied that. Those who know me personally realize that I seem the humor in many of the situations we face. In the weeks to come we are going to have to work harder than ever to separate fantasy from fact. Obviously, the fact that you are of Arabian heritage, practice the Muslim faith, or happen to otherwise fit some folks pre-conceived profile of a terrorist should not automatically imply guilt. However, we need to remember the fine line between discrimination and denial. Actors from these and any other racial/ethnic groups may still be plotting to carry out additional acts.
