Did I mention huge, long list? Well, for me, anyhow, as I stopped buying

Long, long list. Not to mention the 2 tables, 4 chairs, and a huge storage

Wow! That is a lot of money. But, if you can see

some results it would be worth it. I am sure you

could find some of the stuff used. Why don't you post

some stuff that you need and see if anyone on the list

would have some of the stuff that they are not using

anymore? Just an idea. Good luck with the program.

Good job on the puzzle...for you and the girls.

Grace,

Is there any way the cost of the toys can be

reimbursed through insurance or income tax if you file

in CA...?

WTG, Sydney and Madison!

Madison sounds like ..he gets annoyed if we try

to get him to do anything that he does in school..as

if it's enough for him to do it there..how dare we

bother him at home!

Mimi -

Insurance, no. Everything about autism is not covered in that wretched

insurance. When we first got the insurance, I wasn't concerned about it

since my children weren't even conceived yet. And now.... well, it's still

at such a low rate ($300 for all 4 of us is pretty low, isn't it?) that I

just keep it. Most everything they needed coverage for, medically, was

done. It's the supplemental stuff that we don't stand a chance of getting.

Income tax? I don't know what you mean? Do you mean to itemize these

materials as deductions? Oh you BET I plan to do just that LOL!!!

Oh, Kandie, that is so sweet.

Well, I ended up buying a LOT of stuff today. I made a trip to Walmart for

2 hours, and busted a shopping move. Glorious feeling, you know? ;o)

And I was really impressed with how much Walmart stocked of stuff I'd pay

much more for in " teacher supply " stores!

What I could not find were things like " Little Tykes Miniature People " <2

moms, 2 dads, 2 boys and or 2 girls>

2 plastic hammers <at least not without buying a whole construction set...

which my girls surely do not need!>

stringing beads <only because I don't know WHICH KIND they want..... gotta

be specific with me!>

Lotto Games <?> - Around the Home Lotto, Shapes Lotto

A game called KERPLUNK?

Barnyard Bingo

Lucky Ducks

Fishing Game (available at Zany Brainy - but did not get to go today>

Swinging Snakes <Where do thet GET this stuff?>

Don't Break the Ice

Pretend plastic foods <2 of each>

Pretend plastic dishes <setting of 4>

Noun cards

Action cards

3-5 inch long zoo farm animals

Tinker toys???

and a LOT of blocks, which I have... if I can gather them all up in one

place, it would be a LOT.... if I cna find them, LOL.

I got all the other pretend stuff, balls, potatoheads, trucks, cars, baby

dolls and bottles, etc today.

has asked to see whatever I don't have in posession because she has a

lot of stuff in class that she could give me too. I think everything I have

listed is way too elementary for though, yes!?

And a whole ton of books that i got at Amazon last night. Then there's a

list of what kind of Rubbermaid container/tubs to get - -got those today.

So now, I just need to get the expensive bigger stuff, like furniture, and I

think I am somewhat ready? Oh, and all the study materials.... which I can

get at Staples. :o) Wasn't that daunting afterall!!!

Grace,

I can just image the list and then you have to double the list so that would be

a doubly huge list.

The cost did throw me back alittle. But with everything I have to replace I know

how you feel.

That is great news that Sydney loved to do the puzzle. loves puzzles to. He

does the 100 pieces in no time. I like it after he is done he has to jump on

them and yell ALL DONE. Then he cleans them up and puts them back in the boxes.

Sorry Madison does not like to do things at home that is like school. was

like this for about 2 years and know that is all he will do with his worker is

more school work. Maybe she will out grow it.

Please let us know what is on your list for the girls cause I might have

something's here that you could use.

Lori

A LITTLE glazed over??? OMG! I'd have been in a coma!

And would you like to hear something that'll make you feel really good, Grace,

since you always feel like you don't do enough? There's no way in H*LL I'd have

spent $1700 on toys and storage systems. We can't afford it, and I wouldn't

have tried to find a way. I am cheap above all else. ALL ELSE. If we're in

debt, I'd rather be dead. I would've said to myself, " there's another way, I'm

sure, " and I would've cheated (or cheap-ed) my kid out of valuable therapy.

So there.

Yes, so there.

In other words, you would do the same program, but somehow pull it off using

your imagination and finding other cheaper replacements and all in all,

being very fiscally-minded about it. You, being the " cheap " one would go to

craft stores and MAKE something that could replace the general purpose of

whatever Mr. Pototahead is supposed to serve... whatever 15 dollar wooden 12

pc puzzles are supposed to do.... and you'd do all of it and then some, in

half price.... probably creating a new hobby along the way.

Me? Lazy as can be. Trying to order online as much as possible, even

paying shipping charges so long as I don't have to drive around time during

MY precious free time searching for toys that I consider boring, my children

consider boring, and will take a million years to learn how to play with,

and then realize they were right, it is boring..... learn how to do

everything and then STILL probably not talk.... and the teachers will

probably end up telling me this toy serves no purpose here, do you mind if

we borrow it to take to ny's house to teach him >~~~~~ that kind of

thing?

Yes. So there. :o)

Janae - - I actually saw that on the site.

And some of them are on sale. too.

You know what my first thought was? I could use 2 of the boys and 2 of the

girls, one mom and one dad. But two babies? TWINS?

>Shiver goes through my spine<.

No thanks LOL!!! No more twins, even if they are tiny miniature people! No

more! And since there was no way to buy the mom and dad without getting the

infant twins - -I passed on it!

Thanks for the tips!

I have a RiteAid nearby but have never been there. I will check this week

for animals. (Shaun! Watch the kids, I am going to the pharmacy to buy

wild animals? LOL)

Hammers at Walmart - - all I found yesterday were big sets for boys. While

I don't mind if my children play with big construction sets - - the list

does say " PLASTIC HAMMER " lol... so I am hoping I don't have to buy a whole

set. Raena has been kind enough to offer me ' yellow plastic hammer,

though!!! (I'm assuming it's '!)
