Guest guest
FIVE HOURS????!!!!!!!!! The only place I can trust for five hours not to bolt, whine, or lie down and refuse to move is BED!!!! WOW. When was Mikey's age, we were lucky to last 45 minutes at the *petting zoo* -- and 40 of those were on the slide!!!! Holy Crap! I bet you ahd a wonderful day. I'm glad. :-) Jacquie
Guest guest
It sounds like you had a great day! I am so Happy for you!. Isn't it great when they make progress like that? Heck I can't even let Trevayne out like that and he is almost 4! CHRIS We went to the zoo today. We didn't make it to the park yesterday, but today was even more beautiful, so we went to the zoo instead. We bought a membership even; the zoo is on the way home from Mikey's school, so... HE WAS SO GOOD!!!!! It was unbelievable. We did not go to the zoo this past summer. Well, we went once, and it was absolutely awful. We did not return. Not possible. Huh-uh. No way. We let him out of the stroller after we got through the front gate. We did not put his leash (tether) on. We stayed for FIVE HOURS. He was LOOSE for FIVE HOURS!!! He took off twice. In FIVE WHOLE HOURS I only had to chase him TWICE. Both times, another person opened a door and he dashed through it. I don't think he realized we were not behind him. Open doors are to be walked through - that's all there was to it. Every other time he got too far, we called him, he turned, and came back to us. There were a few times he didn't come right away & those times we walked away and waved bye, and after a moment he'd come running. The times he got through the doors, he saw me running after him, so of course he ran and giggled. There were a few times he slipped through a little wire fence into some landscaping...but IMO...not a huge thing. And every time he came back on his own. We didn't have to go in after him. Amazing. Four months ago I couldn't trust him from the front door to the van. -Sara. wife to Matt SAHM to nurslings Mikey, 9/14/99, Autism, and Gabe, born at home 5/17/01, GERD http://home.earthlink.net/~thebyks

Guest guest
Sara: This is wonderful. I have so many good zoo memories; we used to go all the time. If it can work for your family, it is a really good thing. By the way, Putter does well at the zoo too as he is an animal person. And a playground. What a great playground! It's new. It has like 5 levels and 3 huge slides and therapy balls and oh, it was just great. The best part was there was plenty to do on the ground level, and some GENIOUS designed it so that you had to be a certain height to be able to climb up to the next level, thereby keeping the little kids safe on the ground! There was a baby area too with a tiny baby slide and stairs made out of foam. We'll have to take Gabe back when he's not so sleepy. But he had a wonderful time, and we did get to look at a few things as he dragged us past them. If we paused too long, he would come grab the stroller and give it a good heave...I thought of Putter. " One, two, three, PUSH! " *happysigh* It was a lovely day. The best I've had in a very long time. -Sara.
