I'll have to go by Super Walmart and check it out. I can eat regular

icecream but I'd like to find a good non-sugar kind for those moments when

I want some

Please respond to

diabetes

It's a round cardboard container, yellow and green with blue

trim. " blue bunny " style.  It was just a half gallon, not a gallon.

Very good taste, as comparable to any ice cream I've ever had.

Hi Cece,

My nutritionist told me to have 30 carbs (two 15 gram servings) for

breakfast, lunch and dinner with one 15 gram carbohydrate serving inbetween

meals and at bedtime for a snack. Like Eunice, it was a little much since I

am not on medication but am trying to control it by diet and exercise.

So now I eat about 30 for breakfast and maybe 15-30 for lunch and then have

almost zero carbs for dinner. Either my lunch or dinner each day is a big

salad with raw veggies and some kind of lean protein. I have one or two

fruits a day as my snack inbetween meals or when I am feeling VERY hungry, I

have crackers with 2 T peanut butter. I get the all natural kind and pour

the oil off to make it lower fat.

But each person is different. My friend Alice eats 60 gm at each meal with a

15 gram snack 3 times a day. So go figure. Each person is unique...

My best advice is to get a nutritionist or go to diabetes training through

one of the hospitals close to you. I went to the Joslin Diabetes Center but

I think there are a lot of good ones out there. It would help to read all

you can on diabetes so you can understand what's going on in your body...

I had a lot of misconceptions too when I first was diagnosed a couple of

months ago. I thought that if you were a diabetic, you just stopped eating

sugar and you were fine. I had a LOT to learn. The book " Reversing

Diabetes " by Dr. n Whitaker helped me a lot too.

So my advice is to seek out some help from a professional... like a

nutritionist or from a diabetes clinic that will help you formulate a healthy

diet. Then you can fine tune it from there as you learn what you can and can

not eat.

Stick with this group. They have helped me so much.

Thanks for the info on the yogurt, Stan. Do you eat this every day or just once

in a while? I'm trying to stay under 20 carbs per day. The diabetis educator

told me I could have 45 per day. If I have that many my bg goes way up. I'm

still trying to find a balance. Any suggestions?

Re: Blue Bunny Ice Cream anyone?

I'll jump in here, the raspberry 6 oz has 13 grams of carbs.

Being a newbie---how mant grams of carbs is one allowed in a day? Is it true

that potatoes turn to sugar after being eaten?

In a 1/2 cup serving (brownie sundae), 23 grams of carbs. The others

were comparable in carbs.

Blue Bunny is a brand name, they have a lot of different types of ice

cream, yogurt and milk products available. They are probably not

available throughout the United States. I'd send some to you if I

could. It's great and my bg was 109 2 hours after eating it.

handle much more then 40 to 60 grams of carb a day....My dietitian says

to eat 135 grams a day!!........Which is a unreal number for me...sussie
