Guest guest
40g isn't right for ANYONE. What a ridiculous figure. But someone who is trying to recover from surgery, is now experiencing malabsorption, impaired volume and trying to lose weight? My head is h urting too much to answer! Guest guest
Hi everyone, My nutritionist told me everyone's protein gram intake will be different. She said you take your weight times .3 and that should equal what your body needs for the day. EXAMPLE: 303 x .3 = 90grms Just passing on what was told to me. What does she do to differentiate between a 303 pound person who has a very proximal RNY and a 303 pound person who has a very distal RNY? It seems to me that their intake needs would be very different despite being the same weight. Sheri In Sunny Florida
Guest guest
Sheri, once I had spoke with and had decided I wanted to be distal too. When I brought it up to my doc he said he didn't do distal because it can cause diarrhea and it's too easy to become dehydrated. So, I imagine no one is distal, probably almost everyone is proximal in this surgery group. So, I don't have the answer for you. Guest guest
That would be interesting, except that we're not trying to maintain a weight or add weight. Not that protein would, but that formula might work to aim toward a higher goal, not a lower goal. If that makes sense. There are the official formulas, .8g protein per kg of wt, or for people in muscle wasting disease (that's us) 1.2g per kg. But those theories don't work for us, either. 60g via supplement is the bottom end baseline. So, if you have more bypassed OR want to lose faster OR build muscle, then you add more protein in 30g in crements. Predigested proteins do not tax the organs in the same way that food proteins do, so the rumored kidney damage is n/a with supplements. the latest is 1g per lb of body wt, which is easy to figure, but again, makes no sense for us. If Noelie is 303 today (298 next week), then 300g protein? I think not. I'm 108#, but I need far more than that in protein, at least 120g, maybe 180g more often. So again, n/a. Guest guest
Everyone is not proximal.. I am now a 60 in distal.. is a 40 in distal, and there are quite a few other distal RNY/s on the list.. the majority of the list is most likely proximal, though. Guest guest
Dear Dee Dee, 110 what? Centimeters bypassed? or 110 cc of common channel left? If 110 cc is what is bypassed, then , in my opinion, I would think that you are proximal. I hope that this helps.. Guest guest
Hi all. Tonight is my husbands work Christmas party. I hate mornings because I'm sitting here thinking " I don't want to go to a Christmas Party. I hurt sooooo bad! " but then by tonight I'll be ready to go. I gotta go pick up my percocet and I will be fine. I gotta go to motor vehicles and to Target today (my dd bought 6 boxes of " Pot of Gold " candy from Hershey for her aunts. When I had my guild christmas party, I realized that I forgot to buy stuff for my VP's and other's I needed to buy for so I used 5 of her boxes. Target has them on sale!!) So, I gotta replace them. ugh. Well, better get moving. It's soooooo cold here in Jersey today. You would figure, since I live in SOUTH jersey, it would be warmer, now wouldn't you??
