Guest guest
Hi everyone, Thanks for putting up with all my posts Once a lot of my initial questions are answered I expect I'll stop swamping the place so much. OK, so the following things are OUT: potatoes rice flour of any kind, and therefore crackers and bread and toast and baked goods Does this include pasta of any kind as well, since pasta is a starch? And corn, and popcorn? It's a veg but it's starchy. What's the opinion here? Right. Well I love my food; and when I'm up to it physically and mentally, I love cooking and trying recipes. It feels like my hands are going to be rather tied here though. My little girl and husband will refuse to stick to these foods, but I'll be willing to give them their potatoes and toast while I have something else; I think I can manage that. So what do you do for each meal to avoid endless boring piles of whole grains? And what do you do to flavour these piles? I usually need an afternoon snack because my blood sugar drops every 4 1/2 hours or so, no matter how healthy and hearty a meal I had. On Radiant Recovery a snack consists of protein and a " brown. " My choice is usually a handful of cashews and a couple of wholewheat crackers, since they are quick to grab and easy to eat when out of the house. If I can't have crackers, what's a convenient wholegrain snack? I have quinoa, millet, amaranth, and porridge oats in the cupboard; I started trying them last autumn before the depression got bad. I really like porridge, I have it for breakfast most days. I find the other things rather flavourless but I will have them if that's what I need to do. For lunch today I was going to have wholewheat pasta, thinking I'm not going to try to change everything in a day or two. Then I thought, I've got whole grains in the cupboard, why not have some and see if they're better for my blood sugar this afternoon, see how they hold me. So I've got some quinoa with lemon juice. Not very exciting, but functional. Am I right about the list of things not to have? What do people here eat? Many thanks, again .
