Guest guest
Annie, Geodon is a toughy to come off of (of course all psych drugs are in there own particular way). What is your starting daily dosage? I was taking 160mg of geodon. I have been off the geodon for over a month now, but it took me almost 1 1/2 years to be free from this drug. It is suggested that you make 10% to 5% decreases at a time and wait until your body feels stable again before making another cut. Which for me was 2 to 3 weeks. As I got lower in my dosage of the Geodon (around 25mg) I had to drop down to 3% decreases. The Geodon was really tough for me to come off of, my body really put a fuss about it, but I was determined to be free from it. Almost 2 years ago I was on 8 different psych drugs (38 pills to swallow daily). I'm now down to just 1 psych. drug, Klonopin. And I have just began to taper off this one last psych drug. I admire your desire to come off of the Geodon. You can do it! Let me encourage you to follow the advice that and Kim give you on how to come off it. Going to fast is dangerous and makes things extremely difficult and uncomfortable. Let me encourage you to go at the pace that suggests for you. Going more slowly is the best and safest way to go. You will be alittle uncomfortable, but it is far more tolerable and lessens the interference the withdrawals can have on you daily, then if you rush it. I'm here to encourage and support you. Go girl, but do it safely! Hugs, V.C Creel wrote: W ithdrawal. You're going too fast. For geodon you need to keep the reductions to 5% or less. What was the original dose and how much did you decrease? There are many more things you can do to help (diet and nutritional supplements). Please read the information you got when you joined for more on this. Diet plays a huge role. Why werte you originally prescribed this drug and how long were you on it? Guest guest
I increased my geodon again last week in an attempt to stabilize myself. I am doing much better now. I was originally taking 240mg of Geodon and I am now taking 100mg , 20 mg in the morning and 80 mg at night. When I started having the bad withdrawel symptoms I had gone down to 40 mg at night and after 2 days had stopped taking it ( this was all doctors orders). My doctor told me I wouldn't have any withdrawel symptoms. The medication I take is for bi polar disorder. I am also taking lamictal 100 mg ( I reduced from 200 mg), zoloft 150 mg ( reduced from 200 mg), Abilify 5 mg and I still occasionaliy use lunesta at night to sleep. Once I get off of the Geodon I intend to taper off of the lamictal and then possibly the zoloft as well. I am afraid to go without the zoloft becuase the last time I was depressed I tried to kill myself and I almost succeded. I don't want to get back to that place agin. I just plan on taking this slowly and seeing how I feel along the way. I have been reading up on the paleo diet and I am slowly starting to make changes with what I eat. I am comitted to following the diet it is just taking me a couple of days to get the hang of things. I will research the files today for supplement sugestions, any additional advice on supplements is greatly appreciated. Or any advice at all for that matter. Thanks to everyone who has helped me already. If anyone wants to share some of the meals or recipes that they use that would be great. I would also be interested in what symptoms other people have experienced while coming off of geodon. thanks again, Annie --- ccreel_04064 wrote: > > > > > > > > > I am in the process of tapering off geodon and > > yesterday I started to feel like I had the flu. > Every > > muscle and bone aching like crazy and nausea etc. > Are > > these typical withdrawel symptoms of geodon? > > Thanks for any answers>> > > > ** Annie, if you're experiencing this you are > going too fast and > dropping too much at once.
