Guest guest
The band should not be pushing down on her eye. We had that issue at first with jenna's band but a little trim took care of it. Are you talking about a ring where the opining is on the top of the band? I wouldn't think this should be occurring either. Not all ortho's take measurements. Have you taken photos of your baby's progress? Do you have any photos you can post showing the fit of the band? Have you discussed your concerns with the ortho on the fit of the band? If so what was their response? Please keep us posted on what the neuro surgeon says. Angie and Jenna(STARband grad 1/21/03) Help! StarBand concern My baby has had the StarBand for 5 weeks now. We were happy with theinitial results but after continued adjustments are growing concerned. She is getting an indent where the top of the band ends - like a ringaround the top of her head. It's also pushing down on one eye. I'vetaken the band off & am waiting the neuro. surg. to call back. They,University of Iowa, never measured her head to begin with so how willwe know if we are moving in the right direction? They just don't seemto think it's very important. Am now thinking I should have driven the4 hours each way to get a DocBand. Anyone have similar concerns orideas on what to do? Thanks, For more plagio info
Guest guest
Thanks so much for your quick reply. The orthotist keeps adjusting and just says " well it's going to do that a little " (meaning twist and rub and smooch her eye). I just feel like every time we get it adjusted it fits worse & worse. She hasn't worn it for 4 days now. Still awaiting the neuro. but they, obviously, don't seem concerned either. My husband keeps telling me that they see so many more important/terrible things every day that this must not be important to them. But it's so important to us. I have a digital photo from when she first got the band, will have to take another with how it fits her now & post. Guest guest
Angie, I just posted Mia's 1st photo with band, it fit pretty well in the beginning (now is squishing right eye & top of head). We are in Iowa, University of Iowa is a great Hospital. Just not thrilled right now with ortho & neuro. Am calling again today. I don't want to just go in to ortho again for another adjustment because I feel like we are moving farther away from a good fit. Thanks again. > > > The band should not be pushing down on her eye. Guest guest
She is so cute!!! I think you are probably doing the right thing. I would want to talk to her neuro surgeon before anymore adjustments. I hope they call back soon. I can only imagine how frustrated you must feel. I am in Missouri. I don't recall off the top of my head anyone else from Iowa. I will try to search messages if my kids cooperate. My oldest is at school in 1st grade. Then i have a 3 year old son and 20 month old Jenna. They are tormenting each other right now. Angie Help! StarBand concern> > > > > > > > > My baby has had the StarBand for 5 weeks now. Guest guest
, First I would like to say that Mia is a little cutie. Second, that band looks extremely tight even in that picture! Guest guest
Dustie, Thanks, she's a really good baby too. What makes you say that it looks too tight? What has your experience been? I really want to make sure that we do the best for Mia - but I'm not sure that I have the best people to work with... > > > > > The band should not be pushing down on her eye. Guest guest
Dustie, That was my thought too! Way too tight. > > > > > The band should not be pushing down on her eye. Guest guest
Hi : I'm sorry things aren't going better I totally understand your concerns and will agree with everyone else's reply that the band appears to be too small on her pretty little head. Have you contacted your orthotist yet today? Has Mia grown a lot after receiving her band? Maybe she's outgrowing this one, or did it get small AFTER your orthotist made an adjustment to it? Have you seen any correction as of yet? Sorry - but I'd keep it off her right now to be safe, ill fitting bands can do more harm than good to baby's heads, that happened to my daughter while STARbanded Keep us posted.
