Guest guest
Hi everyone, My name is Theo I'm a addult with ADHD in a very strong form. When I have been tested here at the Academic hospital in Sweden, by the ADHD team for addults, They told me that untill then they have not met anyone with such a high grade of ADHD. And they where surprised that I have been able to live without drugs, smoking and drinking. I have done all that earlyer , but with Gods help (without meaning to sound holy) i did make it so far. When I finally found out I had ADHD, and the hospital proved it also, I tried to go on living without medicine. But I failed, I could not go on without risking my marriage and my job. So I tried in the last years all the meds that where avaible in Sweden. Effexor, Dextro amfetamine, concerta, Ritalin, moe that I don't remember and now the latest Strattera. All meds didn't work for me, I even became worse. Just last week I decided to stop with Strattera since I had become more and more aggressive and with Easter I even got crazy thoughts like I started halicunate. My doctor agreed so I stopped. They told me to go down from 80 to 40 mg in one week and then stop. But when I read on the papper you get with Strattera, it sad that you can stop without a problem. I did that and then slowly hell broke loose. I didn't realize it first, was more dizzy, fall very easy, but for the rest I was ok. But then it was harder to get out of bed, no strength left at all. Now in the last few days I start to get a little burning feelings in my muscles. Yesterdaynight i started to get fear and panic feelings. Now i'm a little better, but I still feel like I'm 300 kg's ( I'm 82 kg's) I feel funny in a bad way, but I hope this cold turkey will go over soon. It's not a extreme cold turkey, I have seen worse with other drug addicts. (which I'm not btw) but still I had to stay home from work. I'm simply not able to work right now. I wonder if there are people here who manage to live without meds and only with natural solutions? I mean people, addults, with a high grade of ADHD? I just started to read also about Bio feedback? Well it's a long intro and stiull just a little bit about myself. But otherwise if I coninue , it will be to long. So I better stop. Guest guest
Hi Theo, Welcome to the group! I'm glad you found us. Our list owner, Cathrine, will give you more specific information about ADHD and the medications you were prescribed. We don't recommend a cold turkey withdrawal in this group for a lot of the reasons you describe in your post. When people withdraw too quickly they sometimes develop lingering symptoms. This can usually be avoided with a slow, tapered withdrawal. will give you more information about this too. First, I'd recommend that you read the info in our files (a lot of that was also sent to you in e-mails when you joined). It looks like you are interested in a nutritional and diet-oriented approach, which is exactly what is recommended here. There is a lot of interesting information in the files that will help you with this. I'm sorry you're feeling so terrible right now. There is hope here. In complex situations, especially those with an underlying condition, it's often best to schedule a private consult with . She can then recommend a protocol tailored to your specific needs. I did this when I first joined and the advice she gave me has helped so much. There is also information on the scheduling the consults in our files. Take care right now, Theo. There is a light at the end of the tunnel and you can find a solution for yourself here. > > Hi everyone, > > My name is Theo I'm a addult with ADHD in a very strong form. > When I have been tested here at the Academic hospital in Sweden, by the > ADHD team for addults, > They told me that untill then they have not met anyone with such a high > grade of ADHD. > And they where surprised that I have been able to live without drugs, > smoking and drinking. > > I have done all that earlyer , but with Gods help (without meaning to > sound holy) > i did make it so far. > > When I finally found out I had ADHD, and the hospital proved it also, I > tried to go on living without medicine. > But I failed, I could not go on without risking my marriage and my job. > So I tried in the last years all the meds that where avaible in Sweden. > Effexor, Dextro amfetamine, concerta, Ritalin, moe that I don't remember > and now the latest Strattera. > > All meds didn't work for me, I even became worse. > Just last week I decided to stop with Strattera since I had become more > and more aggressive and with > Easter I even got crazy thoughts like I started halicunate. > My doctor agreed so I stopped. > They told me to go down from 80 to 40 mg in one week and then stop. > But when I read on the papper you get with Strattera, > it sad that you can stop without a problem. > I did that and then slowly hell broke loose. > I didn't realize it first, was more dizzy, fall very easy, but for the > rest I was ok. > But then it was harder to get out of bed, no strength left at all. > Now in the last few days I start to get a little burning feelings in my > muscles. > Yesterdaynight i started to get fear and panic feelings. > Now i'm a little better, but I still feel like I'm 300 kg's ( I'm 82 kg's) > > I feel funny in a bad way, but I hope this cold turkey will go over soon. > It's not a extreme cold turkey, I have seen worse with other drug addicts. > (which I'm not btw) but still I had to stay home from work. > I'm simply not able to work right now. > > I wonder if there are people here who manage to live without meds and > only with natural solutions? > I mean people, addults, with a high grade of ADHD? > I just started to read also about Bio feedback? > > Well it's a long intro and stiull just a little bit about myself. > But otherwise if I coninue , it will be to long. > So I better stop. > > Theo >
